Lunch With A NRW Flavour

When in Germany - just got to do the local beer hall. This one is pretty much all you'd expect. Nice dark local beer (served in small glasses) minimises the lunch consumption. The Schweinehaxe and accompaniments went down a treat too. As always the service was full of German efficiency with a... read more

A friend I and went over to Dusseldorf a few month back for a Bundesliaga 1&2 weekend. We have German friends who live in Dusseldorf and this particular beer house was our agreed meeting point after we had arrived. My friend and I both ordered the knuckle of pork which come with mash and sauerkraut or red cabbage and dumplings.... More

German beer hall atmosphere. Very fresh beer, smal glasses ensures a frequent refill of very tasty locally brewed beer..Ordered Schweinehaxe, specialty of region. Very tasty and huge. I was unable to eat all, which is very rare. Highly recommended.

Went here for some traditional German food & beer. The beer was delicious and served with German efficiency. The beer man has got a tray full of beer and while roaming the tables he puts them down were needed, when the tray is empty he picks up another one from the bar, very nice and simple concept. Food was amazing,... More

We have visited Schlussel many times and always enjoy it. The Alt beer is easy drinking particularly when helped by a couple of schnapps. The bar is in the middle of the Altstadt and is always busy with locals and tourists. The atmosphere is traditional German with brusk waiters loaded up with trays of beer; bleached tables abound and traditional... More

First place we visited on our trip to Düsseldorf This seemed a genuine brauerie experience with substantial portions of earthy food and excellent alt bier The staff were attentive and helpful - even offering us seats at a better table which was reserved for a group later in the evening All round a great introduction to German hospitality

Had our lunch here, was typical Dusseldorf fair with a great atmosphere. You must try the alt beer here as this is one of the best in the area. Lovely, busy and atmospheric worth a visit.

Just love this place - we ate here every night during our visit to Dusseldorf. The atmosphere is second to none and the food is excellent and very plentiful. It seems to be a typical german restaurant, frequented by locals which is always a good sign. A very friendly and vibrant place and the beer is excellent !!

Was in Dusseldorf for the Medica show and took the time to go into town for some food. We were recommended to visit Schlussel by some colleagues and weren’t disappointed. As it was exhibition time the restaurant was packed – we waited for about 20 minutes for a table – but it was worth it. We were a total of... More
