Typical Brauhaus, good beer

They claim this is the best Kolsch in cologne but they would wouldn't they and the curtains across the doors make it an interesting entrance as you emerge into a room full of diners but they sensibly have tables just for drinking near the old cash desk at the back . Massive portions of tasty, meaty German food in the type of room you imagine a German restaurant to look like. Not at all formal; relaxed and 'buzzy' with a high proportion of German guests. Really excellent Kolsch. Friendly service (in the German style).

On Easter Sunday we decided to.go to this gastropub. We enjoyed every minute of it. We didn't have any starters. We just had a maincourse. We both had the Jägerschnitzel, with fries and a salad. And, of course we had Mühlen kolsch with our meal. For dessert we went elsewhere. If we would have stayed, we would have chosen the... More

We were 2 young couples in this "brauhaus". Naturally, we "tried" to get a table. But the very unfriendly waiter didn't let us, because he wanted to clean the table first. But he complained about it too loud and yelled to us. We didn't really care, cos it's really typical service in old fascinated "Brauerei in Germany. But he was... More

This place is awesome. Old building. Schnitzel and potatoes were the best i had in cologne. I don't know how they cooked them but wow! The bath rooms were downstairs and it was 10 degrees colder. Ha Good location as well. Back to our train in time.

I went to this restaurant with my son and daughter-in-law because, judging from the long lines outside the restaurant every time I walk by, I thought this brew house must be something special! I had heard the beer here was supposed to be some of the best "Koelsch" beer in Cologne. I once tried to drop in and simply eat... More

Was always a favourite of mine when I lived in Cologne in 1991 and always has the best beer. Last year I thought Paffgen had surpassed it but this year it regained top spot in my opinion. Food is standard beer hall fare and unexceptional

I went for a meal at the Brauerei zur Malzmuehle in January 2015 and loved it so much that we went back the next day :) Great traditional and modern food - so we liked the pork knuckle just s much as the vitality salad with grilled turkey stripes. We also caught same carnival action :) Great place, will return!

Went here for the classic pork knuckle which is a monster 1.2kg, not the best knuckle in town but one of thd biggest. Has to be my favourite kolsch bar in town though, such a good beer here. Will be back for the beer at least

This brewpub is in my opinion one of the best brewpubs in Cologne, and in an area packed with great brewpubs, that takes some doing. You have to cross a few busy roads, tram line and pelican crossing but the reward is one of the best beers in Cologne. We went and and as you pass through the revolving doors ,you are met... More
