They serve my favorite Kölsch (Päffgen), but that's about it. The place is always packed with tourist and the food just ok. The one time I took a group of 15 people there the dishes arrived very differently timed at our table. One had to wait for more than an hour for a simple sausage. The waiter himself was nice... More

Had a stunning night out here - Germany beat Brazil 7 - 1! Great atmosphere, a constant supply of chilled Kolsch and good food. Waiter had a top sense of humour and enjoyed a few beers with us. Goulash soup followed by vast portions of well cooked pig. It's everything a German beer hall should be.

I really enjoyed going to this place: it's a very typical German restaurant, with a very typical ambiance, and very typical servers! (They can be a bit rude sometimes, though). I had a roasted pork knuckle, and I was very satisfied with it! It was enormous and delicious, I strongly recommend you to try this dish here. We also had... More

Never go to this Brauhaus. They kicked us out yesterday, because we wanted 2 kölsch and not 3 (we were a group of 3). He told us, it is not a waiting hall. When he came with these kölsch, one of us ordered salad. 2 of us did not- it was 10 pm and we were not hungry. He was... More

Nov 2013 - We went to the Bierhaus en d'r Salzgass for lunch because we'd heard their Pork knuckle is the best ever - we were not disappointed. This was definately one of the best meals we have ever had - the whole meal, every bite was totally deliciously mouth-watering. We had the Schinkenhaxe mit Krautsalat und Bratkartoffeln, which is... I ordered a beer and a roasted pork knuckle - the latter one was a little bit disappointing - the skin was quite good & crispy, however the flesh was a little tough and tasteless. On the other hand, the service, atmosphere and design are all very pleasant - I had a great time there!

The Christmas ganz (goose) is outstanding. Meals are tremendous and many contain lots of vegetables which sometimes are hard to find. Roasted potatoes (bratkartoffelen) are some of the best in Cologne. Hard to get a table on weekend nights. The local Germans love this place too. Good Pfaffen Kolsch as well.

We went there for a quick drink to start our first evening in Cologne. but ended up staying for a couple of beers more than expected. The setting is great and the beer comes straight out of the barrel. we didn't have the food there but what we saw on other tables looked appetising.

One of the most traditional beerhouses in Cologne. If you could only visit one then this would be it. Paffgen kolsch in a wonderful atmospheric building. The toilets in the cellar are a complete contrast and are ultra modern (also very clean).
