I was in the old town area of cologne and saw several restaurants to choose from. The host at the door was very gracious when we asked to see the menu before sitting. We were pleased with the traditional menu that also had vegetarian options and asked to sit down. As expected, our order was taken and our food was... More

Had 1/2 chicken and small salad for main, wow small salad would have fed four, good starter and dessert, the service was very attentive and the beers kept coming.

We had asked at the hotel to find what restaurant had the most authentic food and were told to try here. I had the pork cutlet and mushroom gravy with fried potatoes. It was wonderful! My partner had the pork knuckle and I was suprised that it was quite nice too. I have had pork knuckle before prepared differently than... More

Wonderfull restaurant. At the ground floor nothing special just a simple german decor. But the food is amazing! Fresh and a lot. For 15euro you eat that you can't move after. The service was wonderfull. Nadja was always there with fresh beer even before the glasses were empty was like we had a tap next to our table. After dinner... More

Show up before 6:30 to get a table. We were there during the Christmas markets, one of which was right across the street, and the place was jammed every night. The food they serve wasn't different from any other brauhaus, but it was very good. We tried the creamed spinach and the potato fritters in several different places in Cologne,... More

Average all round but perfectly fine. Typical German food and pretty representative but nothing outstanding. Pretty touristy spot with the Christmas market literally a short hop away - from 25 Nov to 23 Dec

We hadn't been able to make a table reservation for our Christmas market trip this weekend, and Gilden im Zims were able to squeeze us in at 7pm. Half the group took the table and waited for the rest of us to join. When we turned up at the door, the doorman/ bouncer was adamant we didn't have a reservation... More

We enjoyed a traditional German meal in great surroundings served by friendly and helpful staff. The local beer is good and your waiter will keep it coming until you say stop. We had the crispy pork knuckle which was not only fantastically cooked, but big enough to feed a family. A small word of warning, this very popular restaurant and... More

- Almost all tables are reserved - Average quality of dishes - Average service (but very fast, food comes after 10min after order, drinks almost right away) - ! Awful: pets are allowed - ! Awful: very small tables (literally for 4 plates)
