fine dining in Cologne (though expensive)

This apparently inconspicuos restaurant, relatively small, is ambitious in terms of the offering: the chef is creative and knows what he is doing. We chose the nine course menu, which came in small portions allowing us to fully enjoy each, all different and excellent. Service was very good... read more

My Colleague and myself had dinner here last week and the food was simply superb - one of the best dining experiences I have ever had - minus the service which was not so great. There were lots of foams and crazy flavour mixes but it worked and we were talking about this meal for many days. I have attached some... More

Cologne fine dinning , choose from a 5 course or 7 course set menu. The chef creates interesting plates of food from a rather playful edible Zen garden to begin, mussels served hot and cold as an amuse bouche to expertly cooked beef cheeks. Pre desert , dessert and petit fours are all of a very acceptable standard. There is... More

I have been to L'escalier quite often over the years. It's fine dining at it's best. The food is always extraordinary and the service impeccable. The impressive wine list fits right in with the rest. It's equally suitable for a romantic dinner for two or a business dinner with important clients. I have done both multiple times and was always... More

Great food, godd wine, very good service with good advices and an amazing experience, good balance between traditionnal and inventive food ! We visit already most of the restaurant which have some michellin stars in the region and this one is from our point of view much better.

A very nice restaurant offering a very original menu and Avery nice wine selection.the service is great timely .one can seat in side or out side the staff is doings great job. Presentation is like one star michlene although they have one but definitely deserving the star. The major obstacle for not having it is the age of the chef... More

I booked lunch at L’escalier for Saturday 28th December on-line while in the UK. Somehow I failed to communicate successfully to the restaurant my mobile number. This meant that they were unable to tell me that on the day of our visit they were only offering a restricted menu – a traditional German Christmas goose and red cabbage. Unfortunately I... More

A delight. Superb food of the highest quality. Very creative use of ingredients and flavours. Very caring multilingual staff who understood and anticipated our needs really well. A top class restaurant - think Club Gascon in London (only better value). If ever a restaurant deserves a Michelin star - this is it. Personal attention from the Chef/owner much appreciated. We... A friend and I had dinner a saturday and the restaurant was full. The waitor was charming, and even though it took a while before we got the menu and our orders were take - it was soon forgotten. The food was wonderful with loads of taste - all the way from the mustard butter with the home made bread... More

We went there with three people and our bill ran up to 83 euros without water or wine or dessert! Wehad to wait a long time before our meals came though the place was empty for lunch, but the waitress claimed the were always fully booked for dinner. If don't want to waste your money, go somewhere else to eat!
