Unimpressive food and service

Not really sure how to expand on the title. The two main things you hope for in a restaurant and it didn't excel in either. I'm rating 3/5 as perhaps some of the service was down to language barrier. I had a tandoori selection and some of the meat wasn't too appetising. Another friend was unhappy... read more

The ambience of the restaurant is pretty basic and they've tried to indianise it as much as possible. Food was good as well: stuff listed as spicy was actually spicy to an Indian. Service was terrible, and maybe a little bit racist as well. Toilets were unclean. Either something terrible had happened that day or they didn't know how to,... More

I came across this place during a recent business trip to Cologne together with a colleague. It's centrally located in the downtown area. The restaurant is very clean, the staff very friendly and attentive. The extensive menu offers everything one would expect from an indian restaurant. There are some nice platters offering a wide selection of small bites giving a... More

Normally I'm cautious of any restaurant too close to a city center or the station, but Jaipur was a delightfully surprising good and authentic experience. The menu offers a nice selection of choices, and everything we had was very good with the depth in tastes that you expect from Indian food. Indian restaurants seldom impress you with the style and... Service was fast, the food was good but differes from the usual English curry. The curry sauce as a little thinner than you'd expect inthe UK and no poppadoms were offered but on the other hand the vegetable somosa wer the best I've eaten. Look out for the stuffed full-size tiger.

Managed to get a table in the Jaipur on a Saturday night, without a reservation, purely through luck. What a great curry house. English visitors will be familiar with the majority of the menu and won't be disappointed with the quality of the ingredients used and the spicing of the dishes.

We had a great meal here. Food was outstanding. Service a bit slow, but the waitress had the entire restaurant to serve herself. We were not in a hurry, so no big deal. If you love Indian, this is a great place to eat.

Best avoided. My mate ordered the chicken curry and for myself chicken tika massala. When they arrived mine had never seen a massala sauce. It was the same as the curry but with a drop of cream mixed in. As for the rice, we ordered pilau and was given boiled. When the staff were confronted, they told us it was... More

Jaipur is an unassuming Indian restaurant on Marzellenstraẞe in Cologne, Germany. One is given a table only if there is one available with the exact number of seats in your party, which was somewhat off-putting at first blush. But when the food arrived, all was instantly forgiven. Kept warm in candlelit bowls, this chef knows his or her Indian cuisine,... More

Went there on a Wednesday evening with a couple of good friends. Staff attentive and the food good and great value for money. Close to the main train station but away from the tourist trap resturants by the Dom. Go to Cologne quite often on business will give this place a return visit!
