I went to this place on a Saturday evening and it was pretty quiet (maybe it gets busy later). The staff were nice enough but I don't understand why people are raving about it. The schnitzel I ordered with paprika sauce was quite good but nothing special and the sauce was most likely from a packet. I think perhaps later... More

We chanced upon this place because we were staying in the Ibis almost next door (also recommended). Everything about this restaurant is top class. Food, atmosphere, service, friendliness of staff and price. We were lucky to get in on a Saturday night without a reservation as the place was packed all night. I cannot recommend this restaurant too highly. Get... More

This restaurant specialises in Schnitzel, all kinds. They are served large, filling the plate, and small that almost fill the plate. There are other local dishes all of which served in generous portions, and with large side servings. There is also a great selection of German beers.

Staying in Aachen at the Ibis Hauptbahnhof for three nights during the Christmas Market, we had some trouble making reservations for dinner at our usual haunts in town. Remembering Im Alten Zollhaus from a previous visit, we tried to get a table for three without a booking. We were greeted in a warm and friendly manner and space was found... More

This is a very busy restaurant and bar. The food is fabulous and they have a good range of draught beers. The atmosphere was superb as was the service. We will certainly go back there if we ever go back to Aachen.

We've dined at this restaurant several times on our rail journeys to and from further afield in Europe. It is very handy to the Ibis Marchiertot hotel, which is near the railway station and it offers not just traditional German fare but also dishes for those who prefer Ital;ian style. It's only a few metres from the hotel but it... More

Staying at the Ibis hotel near the Marschiertor, this restaurant is about 40 metres up the road. Very convenient if it's raining or staggering back after sampling the large range of beers on tap. Food was very good (but chips with everything). Advisable to book or look disappointed if they seem hesitant to find you space. Good atmosphere and decent... More

We chose this restaurant based on location (right around the corner from our hotel) and tripadvisor reviews. We entered around 8 on a Saturday night and they were mostly empty which worried us. The extremely friendly server made us feel more at ease at once. The menus she laid down were huge and heavy, but easy to navigate with many... More

I had visited this cafe on a previous trip to Aachen and was looking for it again on my most recent visit. I had a hard time relocating it and lo and behold it was right around the corner from the hotel I was staying in. This place is great. They have several excellent beers on tap and the food... More
