French cuisine in Frankfurt.

This is not French in the sense of boeuf bourguignon. This is food from the Alsace region next to Germany. Menu appears to change daily. I had a dish that apparently typical of this region, "salmon with sauerkraut". This sounded a bit strange to me but the salmon was perfectly prepared and the... read more

I was an invited guest of two colleagues at the Knoblach, a restaurant that features French cuisine. The restaurant is in a former house, with seating in two rooms. The decor is minimal, which is fine with me. The wine list was great and we had a wonderful white from Rhinegau. The three of us had the traditional fish soup... More

Took my wife and friend for a last dinner in frankfurt before returning home to NYC. Decor is minimal, paint job would help. Tables are nice, space is adequate. Waiter not very attentive. Menu is extensive, wine list good and reasonable. Tuna tartar appetizers very good, melon/prosciutto ok. Tagliatelle/chanterelles: portion too large, mushrooms soggy. Monkfish good, veal back/chanterelles: mushrooms soggy.... More

The food and service was truly delightful. I have had one of the best meals at this restaurant. The combination of mouth watering favours and good beer made this a memorable visit. It would have got 5 stars from me, but they didn't accept and form of credit or debit cards. Luckily I was with work colleagues who live in... More

I have been to Knoblauch twice, once with my husband, once with a visiting client. First, the food is delicious, much more French than German. The menu is quite large with typically several fish items. It is handwritten so can be hard to read unless your German and food preparation is excellent. As a native English speaker, I print it... I have visited this restaurant many times during last 10 years. Same quality, same friendly atmosphere, same level- what to wish else? They serve french cuisine ( Alsace) accompanied by the good vine selection. The menu is not big, hand written, but good, the dishes are tasty, simple, but nice. This is not a "haute cuisine" restaurant , definitely not,... More

This small establishment is tucked away in Frankfurt's Westend. The atmosphere is intimate and very friendly. There is a regular menu with daily specials on a blackboard. The wine list is predominantly French with a lot of good wine from Alsace. The food is always made from top-quality ingredients and is freshly prepared. Service is discreet and helpful, especially if... More

I had an early dinner at Knoblauch with a colleague. We reserved a table which was lucky because it soon became full. We were brought olives, salami and bread to the table. The seeded bread was exceedingly tasty. The standard menu is quite limited but there is a huge selection of specials and I challenge anyone not to find something... More

It is about honest food were you can taste the mood of the chef. Quality is nice but not haute cuisine but it is the honest french taste. Went there for business but would go there with my family.

We've been to Knoblauch several times over the last couple years and we've never been disappointed. It's the closest thing to taking the ICE train to Paris for dinner. The food is consistently good and the service punctual. Have tried other French restaurants in Frankfurt but the only one we keep returning to is Knoblauch.
