I really liked this cafe...It's very retro with different seating possibilites that are all very comfy...The clientele is very interesting with different age ranges and styles. The food is delicious, and the music is nice. The service is ok, not super friendly, but then again that's quite typical for Frankfurt. There was a weird smell coming out of one of... More

Loved it here. Great family atmosphere and cool retro decor. Fabulous home cooked food and delightful friendly service. Amazing frankfurter with scrumptious potato salad. A nice place to chill with good coffee and extremely comfortable chairs

We went to Cafe Maingold as a party of 5 including 2 babies. We got a great table outside, sheltered from the damp autumnal air by a large umbrella. The old fabric-covered chairs were delightfully evocative of days gone by and an apt taster for the decadent dusty delights to be found within the labyrinthine interior. The coffee was large,... I went to Maingold with a group of eight people for a couple of drinks. A person from our group asked for a glass of wine that is not dry. The waiter suggested the only such wine they had, which turned out to be awful and undrinkable. We asked if we could return it and it seemed that there is... More

The first time we came here, we had wine and some dips with olives which went down really well after work. The staff are very helpful if your German is a bit feeble and the wines are good & mostly local. It is very nicely decorated inside and the seats outside are fab on a warm sunny day or balmy... More

Located at the edge of a nice park with lovely smell of accacia trees, this a cute place for an afternoon/evening hangout. Friendly staff will translate the menu from German to English, and you can try out local specialities like Frankfurt green sauce, or Flammkuchen, or delicious goat cheese in olive oil with the best bread you ever had as... So, this is a place that opens and starts serving breakfast at, I think, noon, and I've spent several pleasant afternoons hanging out (outside, when the weather is warm), during various trips to Frankfurt. Their flammkuchen are especially recommended, and the decor is something like retro, um, maybe 1950s? I'm not old enough to say. However, I made what seems... More

Maingold is a great place to have either a nice breakfast or to go for an early dinner or only for a cup of coffee/tea and a piece of cake. We went last week, I had a piece of cheese-cream-cake with cinnamon and it was delicious! I am very surprised because I have never eaten something like this before. It... More

Great place to spend an hour reading the news or just watching people. Great old style cafe for all those who dislike the fast food high street cafe franchises.
