On a bitterly cold winter's day, there's nothing nicer than a gluwein (or two) in this lovely cafe/restaurant. Wrapped in warm blankets, under a patio heater, watching the world go by, we visited this cafe twice during a short trip to Frankfurt. Good service, fabulous hot wine, a highlight of Frankfurt.

As its name implies, this café is located in Hauptwache square, which makes it very central and accessible. We were lucky enough to find seats outside on a very sunny July day and had a nice lunch. While prices tend to be a bit on the high side, the food itself was great and the service was totally adequate. A... More

I have visited the café Hauptwache twice in a week. It's location is perfect in the middle of the city and it can be a nice meeting place. The food is well prepared but overpriced for the quality and the quantity provided.

Had a 16hr layover at Frankfurt airport and ventured Downtown via the subway...had dinner here...german pub style fare...sat on the heated patio...a great experience in a busy modern city...the cafe itself is housed in a historic building on a busy downtown square.

Good food and outdoor seating. The indoors seating is a little dark. Right in the centre of the city, perfect for a quick drink of meal.

About 15 euros for a main course of pigs knuckle with sauerkraut and mustard- Enormous size of a tender knucle but the sauerkraut was bland. Big portion of caesar salat with chicken that was okey but the winner was the vienna snitzel for its incredible flavour and crispiness; higly recommended;)

Located in one of the most well known squares, Cafe Hauptwache is really a very good option for a beer or a light meal. I tried the weiss beer and the Frankfurt schnitzel with the traditional green sauce (Grüne Soße or Frankfurter Grie Soß). Very tasty and highly recommended!

Cafe Hauptwache is located very conveniently in the Innenstadt. I often go there for an after-work meet up, whether it is for business or private. It is great for group meeting, and during the World Cup season, there are a few big screens showing the game. The Cafe also provides business lunch. The Schnitzel and Flammkuchen are good.

The food was quite nice but it was way overpriced. €18 for a schnitzel I was expecting great presentation with lots of sides but instead it was a schnitzel with fried potatoes, nothing else but cranberry jam. No garnish, no tiny salad.

We liked a lot the great outdoor seating area, perfect for a sunny day. The service was good, there were a lot of waiters running around and our beers and huge schnitzel came quickly. But the food is rather average, I wouldn't come back for lunch, maybe just for a beer in a sunny day.
