Nice, well prepared variety of foods with generous portions in a quite uniquely decorated restuarant. Not someplace for the unadventurous or parochial--yes part of the decor involves sand floors to give the idea of eating in a tent, yes the food is all served on real North African bread (which is REAL to a large potion of Africa), and yes... If you would like to eat in sand and get some sand in your Food on the plate, this is a right place for you. My veggie humus was terrrible, the waiter not very friendly... The whole evening was a joke.

I have been to this restaurant about four times and I have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Some people say Savannah was even better for East African food, but I have not tried it yet.

Very cosy environment with a nice and friendly staff. The food is amazing if you like non-German and well-seasoned food.

The idea is brillant. The restauramt imitates an african tend, with chairs, table and bar made of wood. Very tasty food and reasonable portion and price for two persons. Different flavours, spices and textures. The beer is good and the staff is very kind, polite and helpful. The floor is sand and you are invited to take your shoes of... More

We were seated in the "tree house" which was quite cool. Each table was different, but cozy. Amazing cocktails (I was told to try "red sea" by a friend, and our waitress said "that's the good one! "), and they brew their own beer. Food was delicious, we got a platter (where you get to choose one meat dish and... More

The place is interesting, you sit in the sand in a kind of tent but the food was awful... Sorry, not my taste at all. Bread is not a real bread, meat was without any taste, salsa too spicy. Nice service but the kitchen is not for my taste...

We went to this place after visiting the English Theatre nearby and it rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable evening with friends perfectly. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even extending the opening hours of the kitchen to serve latecomers from the theatre. The food is very tasty, original and very reasonable in price. I liked the experience of stretching... More

We keep coming back to "Im Herzen Afrikas", for the delicious Eritrean food, friendly staff and unique atmosphere, and often when we have friends visiting from out of town. The food might not be as authentic as in other Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants, but it is always tasty and flavorful, and always served in a friendly way. The decor is creative and... More

We enjoyed the stay at Herzens Afrikas and really felt to be somewhere else but Germany. The food was nice and simple served. Personally, the african spices are not our favourite but we still go there to enjoy the delicious banana creme!
