Iwase is too me overrated by others here. It is a small restaurant with a nice atmosphere, very much like a local average quality restaurant in Tokyo. Small tables. A bit messy. Sashimi quite good and other food we had was as well. But this is not a place for a long, nice and relaxing dinner, more like a hole-in-the-wall... More

It was ranked the best sushi place in Frankfurt as per trip advisor when I visited. I was disappointed. The sushi wasn't that special neither the place. It's a tiny place which is ok but I wasn't sure of the hygiene. Our order didn't come in full and after we complained to the waiter, the chef was quite apologetic that... More

Just stepping into Iwase catapulted me back to Japan. The place is tiny, just as any good sushi place in Tokyo. Despite not having a reservation, we were able to get a seat last minute. We were so glad we tried. The nigiri sushi was superb, likely the best I have had in Europe. Although not inexpensive, it was well... More

Went to Iwase with a German-Japanese couple but could only reserve a place for the next day. So don't forget to reserve. The staff were amenable, the ambience was cosy, and the choice of food was great. The quality is quite good, and my Japanese friend rated it as 'normal' compared to Japanese standards. Compared to Japanese restaurants in Germany... More

I visited Iwase with my colleague a few times during our stay in Frankfurt and everytime was delightful. We came across it by chance on a lunch break and we had a menu with some sashimi, sake, fruits.. It was so good that we came back on the weekend for dinner to try more dishes and they were all delicious.... More

I went to Iwase because a friend of mine (Japanese) told me I was a good restaurant. The restaurant is simple, small but the sushi IS GOOOOOODD, fresh, the sake is delicious... I have only compliments to talk about this restaurant. I saw people saying was expensive, I have been for lunch paid 17 euros( soup, salada, sake, sushi and... More

This is a small restaurant, so if you plan to visit it in evening hours I would recommend a reservation. We did not have a reservation and almost did not get a table for two. The sushi is very good, but it is a bit pricey.
