Good german food right on the Dom platz

The food was typical German without being only Frankfurter. It was very good. We had a nice table right in the corner of 2 big windows overlooking the old cathedral square. The square itself is a Frankfurt sightseeing as it's surrounded by 16th and 17th century’s buildings. On top it's full of... read more

We enjoyed an evening in the fantastic spring weather with 20 degrees, so we were sitting outside. It is a very nice place, the service is really good, but I was not too impressed with the food.

The place looked so lovely from the outside and was a welcome break from the noise and cold outside. I originally planned to just have a quick bowl of soup - leek and potato. It was very tasty and came with the usual wonderful German bread and butter. I had a good glass of white wine, recommended by the waiter... More

It was excellent! Waiters looked too dressy to me from the outside, but in fact the atmosphere was very warm and pleasant. Food was great, service was exceptional, waiter's advice was great, right to the point. Wine was good, soup was very good, my pork with mushrooms was very tasty, my wife's plate was excellent! Service by Dobrin and Rajko... More

I used to try the restaurants in front of the Romer Plaza as those face always the center of the plaza, but decided to try this restaurant as german friend recommended me, and couldn't be more happier. I order just one dish as was warned already about its huge serving size. Then the best roasted pork knuckle in beer sauce... More

Visited hear as part of a large group and ate upstairs overlooking the Christmas market. With a little snow in the air, the view and atmosphere was terrific. The waiter recommended we try the goose with the choice between leg or breast. I opted for the breast and eagerly anticipated the meal. The starter was pleasant though not particularly memorable,... I was in Frankfurt killing time with a friend whilst waiting for my partner to arrive from Paris. It was lunchtime and the more visible restaurants in the Altstadt were full so we walked inside the Schwarzer Stern and it was like we had gone back 40 years in time. Two waiters, one in his 50's and his younger apprentice... More

Waiting for Miramar room to be ready, we went thru Christmas market to astern, as planned before departure from Seattle. Casual elegance, linen-tablecloth type place. Medium-large menu, nice wine choices. I had the tafelspitz in a pool of horseradish sauce covered with sizeable pile of veg and diced spuds. Wife had double Wiener schnitzel, our friend had huge pork shank... More

My friend and I were on a day trip to Frankfurt Am Main recently, and after a long walk around the City Center, made our way back to Roemerberg. We had dinner at Zum Schwarzer Stern. From the beginning I was glad we went in. The waiters were absolutely charming, and most hospitable, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, and... More
