The “pork knuckle”, Schweinshaxe as per german tradition

The traditional restaurant where to try this speciality of german cuisine and tradition. The atmosphere is very friendly, pub style with big wooden tables, you can see the pictures, very loud and full of businessmen eating and drinking beers. Plate was good as well as the traditional... read more

We visited the place a group of 8 friends. The restaurant is a big space attended by groups. It wasn't full at the moment we went there (two tables next to us empty). They served the starters and drinks quickly and nicely. But when it came to the main course, they brought in one dish. About 7-10 minutes later another... More

My friend and I walked around Sachenhausen before deciding to stop 'just for a beer'. Several hours later, after a great meal, and good conversation, (hi Tulu) we returned to the hotel. The family run restaurant was also very busy, always a good sign.

Fortunately our host booked the table 6 months before: Goose was the main event for this time of year and it certainly was cooked to perfection arriving on the dot of 8pm as ordered and washed down with the recommended house red. There was an excellent atmosphere and good service all evening in this Traditional Frankfurt eating house and remember... More

An old wonderful restaurant in Sachenhausen. You have to try the Schweinshaxe, which is the speciality of this restaurant. Some night they have music inside.

Very convivial atmosphere, solid echt Deutsch food in Sachsenhausen. Not great for vegetarians - the speciality is pork knuckle (schweinshaxe) served with sauerkraut and seriously good mash. Wash it down with beer (very good) or the local cider (dangerously drinkable) Great place to go with a crowd of buddies.

I was there for the Ambiente Fair and we went there for dinner. Food is very good and portions are very big. Price is not bad at all and it's tipically german.

Funnily enough we had had enough of tourists and although a number of places were recommended to us for good german food, we stayed away as most were tourist traps......fortunately whilst in a taxi we met a really cool guy who told us about this place. He dropped us off, we went in, was welcomed and seated. We asked the... More

If you are in the mood for basic German food (Wursts, schnitzels, etc) this is a place -they just did a simple redo and the place looks nice - nice outdoor eating and open roof in the spring/summer.

We recently went to Frankfurt and were invited to this restaurant for a company dinner. The place is typical German environment and not foriegn visitor friendly. The food was the only saviour. Good Barbecued and roasted meat. The only dissappointment was the rude staff. I think they are understaffed and the waiters are all too worked up and frustrated, and... More
