Wiener schnitzel, spargel and strudel -- Oh, My!!

You now have to go to Sachsenhausen in Frankfurt to get the traditional German food that used to be served in all gasthauses. The meal we had at Dauth-Schneider brought back many old memories of the 1970's. Great kalbsnitzel, wonderful spargel with Hollandaise, and the best apple strudel I can... read more

We were walking around the old Sachsenhausen section of the city in search of a restaurant. The area is very nice, and the bridges over the Main river made a great photo opportunity. We came upon an area that had several adjacent restaurants that all looked to be crowded and friendly. The Dauth-Schneider seemed to be the most crowded, so... More

Wow! The spare ribs are incredible! This was an absolute find of a place. Traditional German atmosphere, with a good selection of food and beers. The service was a little sarcastic, but this added to the fun! Make sure you visit this place along with Adolf Wagner!

Very interesting placein tipical German style. The atmosphere was nice and familiar. We went for dinner, crowed but get a bench immediately. If you a a small group they will ask you to share it with other people. Food was good but not best in town i would say 7+. Price in ok. Anyway suggested.

From France for a business trip, we have been advised to have a diner in this restaurant. We have been satisfied by both the diner (food and beer) and also by the service which is efficient. Nothing special as far as style is concerned; Very quiet on monday night of course (like the entire street and other restaurants by the... More

A local brought us here to sample Frankfurt specialties, such as Frankfurter Schnitzel, Chanterelle soup, Gekochte Ochsenbrust mit Grüner sosse (special 7 herb green sauce) and apple wine.

Forget a romantic evening here! This is for large noisy groups. We were quite a bunch and service was surprisingly fast despite our number. Their flammkueche are good and also ask for the daily specials if you wish to have choices other than heavy sausage/ pork and potatoes. There is duck, lamb, suckling pig, etc. My rioja wine didn't taste... More

Traditional Frankfurt food goes beyond apfelwein…and thank goodness, because I discovered I don't like apfelwein. But the other food I sampled at Dauth-Schneider was great. My friend and I sampled three appetizers, including a baked potato with Frankfurter sauce and the Schneegestover (cream cheese/garlic snowball) which I especially liked. And I really enjoyed Schnitzel with green sauce. Atmosphere is low-key... More
