We went after 10:00 pm on a Saturday night, and the place was PACKED! The tables are wooden picnic tables, with benches for seats. It took a little while to get a waiter, but the food didn't take that long to come. My guy had the salmon soup and Frankfurt Butcher platter that had a generous portion of ham, bacon,... More

Enjoyed a authentic German feast of pork knuckles, sausages, ribs, and BBQ shoulder in a nice atmosphere and neighborhood. Pork knuckles and shoulder were truly excellent complimented by the Dukel (dark beer). The service was cheerful and friendly and bill reasonable to top it all off! We didn't have space for desert after all that meat though!

I also had an overnight layover and wanted to have some Frankfurt specialties. All the positive reviews of Atschel made it a no-brainer but the "Only true Germans need visit" review made me a bit apprehensive about going there. I just ate there and had a completely positive experience. To be fair, I went straight to a waitress, rather than... More

We had a overnight layover in Frankfurt on our way back to the states traveling from Barcelona. This is a regular German establishment, we took the S9 from the airport to the downtown Frankfurt main station. We then took a cab to the restaurant. Little did we know that a few more stops would have put us near the restaurant.... More

I would like to start this review out with an apology to the bartender, whom I seemed to have offended by my confusion of where to sit in the establishment. I asked in my broken German for a place for two, after having seen all of the tables in the general vicinity with a sign "Reserviert." I was hoping for... More

Having visited Frankfurt on many occassions this place is firmly on my list of favourite places to eat. Our last visit was on a quiet Monday lunchtime but there were still plenty of locals enjoying the fare. Our waitress was really helpful, even giving us the recipe for Frankfurter gruner sause. Be aware portions are very big, so make sure... More

My young daughter and I enjoyed our meal and it was worth looking around the (nice) neighbourhood for the place! I ordered only one dish (she is just 4) and still it was too much food for the both of us, very generous portions. Not necessarily fat-free and healthy but very tasty! The staff tried very weel to help us... More

Based on previous reviewers, we simply had to try Atschel, and it did not disappoint. Fantastic location, homey, old world feel. A varied menu, (w/english subtitles), easy to understand. Our server worked the room tirelessly and suggested the traditional schnitzel w/green sauce...as it turned out, an excellent choice! Highly recommended, lunch for 2 w/beer 26 euro, great deal.

Good traditional German meal. Took some searching to locate the restaurant and we were lucky to find a gentleman in the street who recommended the place. The restaurant was a bit empty, guess due to the hour, approx 2:15 pm; we were quickly directed to a table. Ordered 4 different lunch meals that ranged from a variety of sausages, Wiener... More

Great traditional food and delicious "Äppler" at reasonable costs. Go for the "Atschel Krüstche" unless you are more in the mood for a light type of meal.
