Really traditional food for a reasonable price. The waitress was nice. You certainly left the place satisfied.

After having done my research of traditional German restaurants in Frankfurt, I was keen to pay it a visit on my forthcoming trip with my husband and two children. We were not disappointed. On first impressions, it is a small, cosy restaurant with wood panelling and a constant buzz of chatter - pretty impressive for a Monday night, we thought.... More

A good place to get a taste of the German apple cider, which is so typical for Frankfurt. Great homemade food for a reasonable price (nothing too fancy, however). As with all these kind of places, menu choices for vegetarians or vegans are scarce.

We visited family in frankfurt in October and they took us to their favourite restaraunt. It was very busy which is a good indicator. Lots of locals were eating there, also a good sign. We sat at long bench tables alongside a few other families. We were served our food fairly quickly and it was a beautiful meal. I can... More

If you want a typical German pub/restaurant... Atschel is the place. We ate great homemade food at a very reasonable price. Both soups and mains (meat) were great. They do not speak english during lunch time, but there is a very friendly Colombian waitress in the evenings who speaks Spanish and English as well. We paid 36€ for 2 soups,... More

In the heart of Sachsenhausen - a typical place for apple wein and serious German fare. A great location (with many similar places in the most direct vicinity), great staff, good food for a good price. It seemed most guests were "locals". A good indicator! Indeed, it is so popular for groups, it is worth calling & reserving ahead!

We had been on vacation for a month traveling through Britain, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland , Italy, France and ending our stay visiting a friend in Frankfurt. Though out our travels we ate a wide variety of different foods. Some were very good, and some not. Our friends said they were taking us to this restaurant for a German meal. They... More

We thought we had reservations here and you need them; there was some mix up with the hotel not making them. Fortunately, we arrived about 6:45 rather than 7:00 when we thought we had reservations. The restaurant was very helpful and by sharing a table with another group we had a terrific dinner. This restaurant can easily sit people family... More

The place can be full sometimes, but it is genuine German food with a great atmosphere. Be prepared to sit in a bench with other people.

We were taken here by a local who told us it is a well known haunt amongst the 'trendy' Frankfurters, although it is very rustic and doesn't pretend to be anything else. Run by the owners, the food is absolutely first class and the menu contains 2 pages of specialities of the house. Everything we ate was excellent, washed down... More
