I was rather apprehensive when I first walked in. The place was empty and we were stuck on the end of a table near the door. I could see my friend wondering what I'd got us into. As it was so high on the ranking I thought it must be ok. The wait staff we brilliant and guided us with... More

I was visiting Frankfurt with a friend, and we decided to have our first dinner at Atschel for no better reason than because it had good reviews on TripAdvisor. Overall, I think I agree with that fact. The food was great (I had pork cheeks), the meat was extremely tender. Thumbs up. The atmosphere and the decor were both really... More

Seems like every year another Ebbelwoi restaurant floats to the top. Atschel is a very traditional place but somehow has managed to mix tradition with food offerings normally only seen on the other side of the Main river. The Ebbelwoi is still one of the best, the furniture is still like it used to be years ago. The clientèle is... More

I was apprehensive going to a "traditional" German restaurant as I don't eat meat - I thought my choices would be very limited. I was very pleasantly surprised - I do eat fish and there were a couple of great options on the chalkboard of special dishes that day. I had the grilled sea-bream - perfectly cooked and with tasty... We made a reservation for a couple yet sat to a table with strangers. This is exactly the magic of the restaurant. you get your seats at a table wherever it's possible. We had to get help in order to order the food from the German menu but the waitress was super nice and friendly, Food was delicious , big... More

I went with clients while staying in Frankfurt for a trade show, wanting to take them somewhere traditional. This was our second attempt at eating here as the first time it was packed out with many waiting. The food was superb quality and we had a mix of choices proving all the dishes are good! We had a great time... More

Chose this place to offer a visiting friend a truly German atmosphere. It appears that they had become victims of their own success, as it was jam packed and only two servers. My dinner was not as great as my friend's, so it was not the best experience I have had in the area. That said, my meal was descent... More

A friend came in town so I took him out to try German food. We had the greatest time! Onion soup, salad, schnitzel with greensauce and with jäger sauce...a pitcher of apfelwein (Frankfurt is known for Apple wine) and this place was built in the 1800s as an apple wine house basically. And after dinner drinks called Mispelchen! Delicious! I... More
