We went here with a friend who lives in Frankfurt very close to this restaurant. The place was packed full, with a lovely atmosphere. We shared a pitcher of Apfelwein which was lovely and sour. I had the pigs cheek which was absolutely beautiful. It was tender and full of flavour and came with a tasty helping of spatzel, and... More

Great homey restaurant with delicious food! We were only tourists there which I love. We thought we had a reservation but they didn't have it but found us a spot anyway sharing a table. Very nice and friendly and what I imagined a German restaurant would be like. All four of us loved our meals! Highly recommend.

We went to this restaurant after reading about it on Trip Advisor. I had doubts we would find it but in the event it was reasonably easy to find. When we arrived the place was buzzing with customers but the friendly waitress soon found us a place. Tables are shared, which seems to be the custom in Germany as I've... More

This is a very friendly, casual and traditional place to enjoy the applewein and the schnitizel. I loved the traditional green sauce

My husband and I recently visited Frankfurt and after a look on tripadvisor, decided on Atschel. We were not disappointed. The servers were friendly and the wait time was not long despite the restaurant being very full. I ordered the pork medallions which were outstanding and my husband got an excellent sausage plate. The price was very reasonable. I would... More

I had one evening in Frankfurt after my trip to Alsace and was looking for a good German restaurant. I chose this place based on the TripAdvisor reviews and I was not disappointed. This is an apple wine garden; just like a beer garden, but they serve a house cider. We had to sit outside in the back at a... More

We ate here following Rick Steves' recommendation. Atschel is in the residential and trendy Sachsenhausen District. Because the weather was threatening rain, sat in a table midway between indoors and the outdoor patio. We had the meat dishes (with the reknowned Frankfurt sauce) and they were all delicious. It took a long time to get our food but that seemed... More

Atschel has great food and large portions (with cheap prices!). The service is great, and my only fault I could find was with the bugs. Granted, we were sitting outside, but the mixture of bees & flies buzzing around did make it difficult to enjoy the meal. Also, the restaurant keeps the doors & windows open during the day, so... Good atmosphere, there are just long picnic tables and you just find a spot wherever you will fit..about 12 different pork dishes, all about 10 euro, large servings, and house apfelwein is only 1.70 euro
