What I like most was the outdoor eating area. You're in a courtyard. This place is known for its pig knuckles which were tasty. The waiter was more than pleasant and the owner stopped by to ask if i was enjoying my meal.

Ate here based on reviews from others, and because it is close to our hotel. Attractive garden with long tables plus some inside tables. Most people seemed to be drinking apfelwein. We tried it in another place and here and don't care for it. I ordered a beer, they have one (count 'em) ONE beer. In Germany. It was good,... More

The food might even be good...but the service just ruins the experience. Too many tables for very few (2 actually) attendants. You get nervous before the ordering. The attendants never look at you - because they are also nervous. The food? Well....it is nice.

A very cosy atmosphere, with the traditional rather dull wood panelling decoration, deer-horn lamps, earthenware jars... OK, you don´t go to this places for design ambiance or fancy dishes. Rather quick service, and they held our reservation for more than half and hour, because we couldn´t find a parking place (it´s impossible, on weekends). The best was the quality of... More

The Haxe was big and pretty good. Most other dishes were unfortunately not that great. Bratkartoffeln seemed be of the frozen variety. Good for a jug of Apfelwein, not sure about the food.

Neat little place...tucked away from the street. Antlers on the walls, long shared tables...kind of a family run feeling.... Food was good but not extraordinary but they serve free applewine if you have the Frankfurt card/pass (there are coupons for some restaurants in the back of the book you get) It was worth a visit....much different atmosphere than I'm used... If you like German cuisine, you must go there. They serve typical German food, which basically means pork and sausages, with potatoes and cabbages (Kraut) as side-dish. They also have traditional Frankfurter specialties, such as beef with green sauce and Apfelwein (an apple wine, which, however, differs from cider and, in my opinion, is not as good as beer, at... Our concierge recommended this restaurant. Upon entering we were the only diners. Was a little weird at first, but they treated us great. The food was outstanding and of course the service. I am sure the place is packed during the high season.

Good local food, but terrible service (not enough staff available).

I can't believe there isn't a review of this already! I'm on my own in Frankfurt and knew that Sachsenhausen (south of the river) was the area to go for 'traditional' and found this place and was totally impressed! I've been lucky in that it is a pleasant September evening as it has a large courtyard with long tables under... More
