One of several restaurants my friends and I visited during our long weekend stag do in Hamburg. We found this place to be very good, and would love to visit again if I manage to get back to Hamburg for a less drunken visit! The staff were very friendly, the food was all fantastic, between our group of 9 I... More

Located in basement of old building. Loads of cosy character. Lunch portions were goid size. Rear of restaurant over looks canal. Prices reasonable, service friendly even for non German speakers.

Eating out with a family in Germany is never low cost, but the food at Kartoffel Keller is very, very good and very reasonably priced for Germany. And the food is both very German and very delicious. If you're looking for something authentically German, this is the right place to choose. And the ambiance! It is really a neat little... More

If your on the Atkins diet, you might want to give this one a miss as it is potatoe based fodder throughout. As odd as this may sound, the food is genuinely delicious and the menu is a varied mix of North german dishes. There are some really unusual and very typical plates on offer and we loved the place.... More

Despite having made a reservation, we were not properly allocated a table and were instead asked to share a small table with a couple who were passionately holding hands staring at each other while waiting for their dinner to be served. Not wanting to interrupt, we requested another table, but were asked to wait at least another half an hour.... More

Good place for dinner in Hamburg. Huge portions of food, good quality. If you like potatoes is one of the best place. We will come back.

There is a potatoe theme but this is anything but vegetarian. The grilled plate featured 3 pork steaks in different styles, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and fried potatoes. It is excellent value for a casual night out. Staff were very friendly and there is an English menu.

It is great what you can do with potatoes. I went with my friend who is gluten intolerant and she loved it as she could eat everything from the menu. We had the spinach and potato gratin which was amazing and also cold roast beef with potato fritters. Service was very friendly and it is good value for money. We... More

Good beer, good food, good price, good service. Ask the hotel to book a table it's likely to be full since its well visited. 8 dishes where saved at the same time. Chef must have been doing some good planning to be able to do that. Enjoyed this dinner.
