Description: The T.R.U.D.E. restaurant is right next door to the Museum der Arbeit, in the shadow of the TRUDE, formerly the largest drilling head in the world. The restaurant successfully combines old and new, with contemporary architecture and fresh design. Many pictures line the walls and create a warm, cosy atmosphere. German cuisine is served here, but with plenty of original ideas including German Tapas with a surprising twist. The Schneller Mittagstisch (quick lunch menu) is served Monday to Friday from 11.30am - 5pm. The whole restaurant can be hired out for events or just the Kaminzimmer (holds 80) or Chefzimmer (for 10-14 people). Capacity when full is 280. Plus, it is possible to use the terrace and the historic museum courtyard, which incidentally is classed as a listed monument.

Decided to visit for Sunday Brunch. Full restaurant and after speaking to host was advised table could take 30 mins. Decided to wait, however forgotten about and a number of other people were sat down, even though they arrived after. Host at no point came to advise us that we would be next or to apologise about the wait. Whilst... More

We met our german relatives for an evening meal and the service was awful, the food absolute average and you could not talk to each other because of the background noise.Drink orders did not arrive on time and the waitress thought it all a lot of fun. Our clothes smelt for days of food etc.

A relaxing bar and restaurant with lots of atmosphere. The food is good especially the scampi which was more like king prawn. The service is good and very friendly. We visited twice in a week as we visited our daughter

We had a hamburger with french fries and a salad. Very tasty. You can accomodate your burger and your salad with extra ingredient. The french fries were from the freezer, same as at Mc Donald's. Prices OK. The staff is maybe the negative point. Even if they are smiling and polite, at the beginning the guy did not say hello... More

Located to the barmbek train station this is a nice place to eat, meet friends and have some beer. The Pricing is reasonble and the food of good quality. Recommended

While in Hamburg some German friends suggested going to TRUDE. What a great surprise I had. We were served great food at very reasonable prices. The waiter service was prompt and efficient and we were never waiting too long between courses. I would definitely this restaurant to anybody visiting Hamburg. The food portions were big and the flavour was superb.

Good place to stop by for a drink (though not cheap). Nice atmosphere. Bartenders clearly enjoy what they are doing. Restaurant has a nice ambience.

I have had this place recommended to me several times, but was sadly disappointed on my visit. The food was below par, but it was the service that shocked me. It was 20 minutes before the waitress dook our drinks orders, and another 20 minutes before the drinks arrived. Getting refills was just as difficult. For me, one visit was... More

We went here for a friday evening dinner. It was quite full and even though we had reserved a table we had to wait for a couple of minutes to be seated. The atmosphere is on the noisy side - this is no cozy restaurant for a candlelight dinner. Service was very friendly and fast, although part if our order... More

Barmbek, one of Hamburg´s historic working class areas, has a great new restaurant. T.R.U.D.E. is named after the giant drill that drilled a tunnel under the river Elbe, and it´s namesake, high as a ferris wheel, also presides over the old, restored factory, next to the Museum of Work. We liked the ambience, simple but not too rustic, and bright... More
