We visited on a Saturday night and had no problems booking a table with half an hours notice which was great. Once you get through the curtain at the door and past the cross faces of those sat next to it (they'll be cold from the draft) the restaurant itself is pleasant. We sat downstairs where the waiter was very... More

We were four friends that went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening that we found while doing research here on Tripadvisor. We found the people working there very attentive and helpful. We chose the four course dinner, and found especially the fried trout (course nr 2) and the flank steak (course nr 3) particularly good. But the starter was... More

We had a dinner on a Saturday evening and it was quite full, so you have to book a table, especially on the week-end. They don't have a big menu, but everything they offer is fresh and original. We had fish and some vegetarian dishes and it was great. The service was not very individualized but that's maybe because ther... More

Some friends and I were looking for a nice restaurant to sample to good German cuisine - Nil was recommended to us and I'm really glad we went! The menu is not classic German, but there is a lot of choice and it's very European - with German influenced dishes as well as classics and Italian style meals. When you... More

NIL is a so called Slow Food restaurant: respect for ingredients from as much as possible local suppliers. The restaurant itself is made of 2 adjacent buildings. One for cooking classes or private parties, the other for the 'regular' customers. I was in the left building, the one for the regulars. It has a ground floor and split level. Beautifully... More

Tasty fish dishes, nice atmosphere (despite the grumpy waiter who didn't even appreciate the 25% tip we left him!), upper level, outside seating, great wine selection. 3 or 4 course meals available or a la carte - nice small selection of contemporary dishes. Cocktails and liquorice ice cream are tasty treats too. Though a tad bit overpriced for my liking.

This is a beautiful restaurant to go as couples or friends and family. The food is delicious, the wine list is very good and the decor is confortable and chick. Price is mid-range and very adequate for the whole experience. If I ever return to Hamburg, I am sure I will go there again!

Went there with friends. The food and service was excellent. The name may be a bit misleading because the foos is more French/European than Egyptian. The have a very good winelist also a reasonable prices.
