Nice place

A nice restaurant with great food and a good atmosphere. We experienced that it's hard to find restaurants in Hamburg but stumbled upon this place and were not dissapointed. Good service and reasonable prices

Schifferbörse used to be the place to eat in Hamburg, but when they moved to serving healthier food, the quality suffered. The best food there used to he Schifferbörsetopf, but no more use they butter in it and they added turkey meat in it. Just not the same. Wiener schnitzel is still good.

This restaurant is set oubut lovely apfelstrudel. Good wine list.t as an 18th Century eating house in a building dating back a number of centuries. The food is excellent, well prepared and beautifully presented. If ordering the steak, if you do not want it medium rare then tell the waiter as they do not ask. I would recommend that you... More

By pure chance this restaurant was next to our hotel, it was a cold night so we checked the minuend went in. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly and efficient service and terrific food, so good we went back the following night. Amazingly interesting decor with a kind of nautical theme.

This was a recomendation of the house. I had already tried Pannfisch and Labskaus in other restaurants in Deichstraße - classical Hamburger meals - so I wanted to go for another classic of Northern German food. There are 2 versions of this plate, the one with bacon dices on top of the plaice, and the one with crabs, and I... More

The Schiffer Borse serves traditional German fish and meat dishes. I had the Weiner Schnitzel and could not fault the size, flavour and quality of the meal. It was served simply with chips and salad which came in ample portions. The furnishings really set the atmosphere of a 19th century harbour market with wall to wall old wooden ship paintings... If you like German food, especially (heart)warming winter stuff, go to this restaurant in front of the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and near the Bus Station. In the fish and meat section they offer great and traditional German dishes. We had a shrimp plate and a plate with mixed fish - great, warming food! Desserts (Rote Grütze, warm Apfelstrudel) are lovely... More

The place is just across the central train station. It feels both worrying and nice knowing the place is so very near the station. Everyhing I ate there tasted wonderful. I didn't wait for too long, even though the place was relatively crowded. The waitress who was attending my table was very nice and checked quite a few times if... More

As everybody agrees, this ancient place has grand atmosphere and fascinating décor. We also enjoyed the fine draft beers and good service from the hard-working staff. But we were let down by the food. Maybe it would be a different story if we had opted for the daily special of plaice (Euro 12.50) but we wanted a break from seafood... More
