Way too expensive and no consideration for coeliacs. Fish was deep fried in beer batter and we returned it however it was sent back even smaller and had been refried eventhough we had been told it would be a new fish. It is a pity about the waitress with the red hair who needs to do a course in customer... More

This is an excellent choice of restaurant to sample good traditional German cooking. The menu includes the regional specialities, all served in very generous portions and at a reasonable price. Serving staff are brisk but cheerful and helpful. The inside is cosy in winter and the garden pleasant in summer, despite its location near a main road.

This is a charming local restaurant. We really enjoyed the food, which included some Hamburgbspecialties, and appreciated the warm friendly service. A very good bottle of red wine was very reasonably priced. We very much enjoyed our evening.

Following the fabulous Jonas Kaufmann concert at the Laeisz Halle we thought the evening could not get any better. But evening was crowned by a wonderful dinner at Brodersen am Rothenbaumchaussee. Being in Hamburg, we had to order fish and we all went for the Ewerscholle "Finkenwerder Art". Fabulous quality and cooked to perfection. We finished with another Hamburg speciality... More

You can tel upon entering that this is an old established Hamburg eat house with stress on the harbour's influence. The food is typically northern German and all the produce is very local. The traditional Labskaus with beetroot is a must if you have never tried this. My schnitzel was on a par with any respectable Viennese restaurant. I look... More

My colleagues and I from around the world were in Hamburg for our leadership meeting and wanted to experience a true German meal, so a German colleague recommended Brodersen not only genuinely German, but genuinely Hamburg. It was a really pleasant experience. The restaurant is in the cellar of a building with tables outdoors in the patio as well. Clientele... More

The service was very good. However the quality of the food was not so good. We both had soup which was ok. The main course however was a huge disappointment. I suspect the chef is a complete master of microwave and freezer technologies. I could not recommend this restaurant.

Although this restaurant has a nice garden (with high hedges that do their best to keep out the noise and smell from the nearby road which is fairly busy) which makes for a nice atmosphere, it's very difficult to enjoy it when it takes so long to get served. It took me (and the surrounding tables) about 20 minutes to... More

We enjoyed our food at this restaurant, but the service was very slow. Because of that, we are not sure we would ever go back were we in Hamburg again.

We ate here on our first evening in Hamburg and were not disappointed. Good food in a nice atmosphere served by a really charming and cheerful waitress. I would certainly come back again next time. Well done!
