The Bremer Ratskeller is a pleasant restaurant in the cellar of the city hall on the main plaza. I had bratwurst with sauer-kraut and mashed potatoes and my wife had fish. The food was good and so was the German red wine suggested by the waiter.

The host was very rude. He showed us a table by the door, and when I asked for something more cozy, he basically said take it or leave it. So we left and went to a more friendly place. I had spoken to him in German, as I had lived in Germany. But he was rude in any language! (TAplease... More

We just had drinks here and were grateful that we hadn't ordered any meals. The service was slow and not very friendly at all. But, it's worth the drink to enjoy the beautiful surroundings with the big barrels and a trip back into history.

The restaurant itself is incredible The charm the atmosphere wonderful. Unfortunately out waitress was just nasty. There was 8 of us, and 4 of us had no knowledge of German or really the foods offered or the wine. Three of the guests were from Bremen made no difference. The waitress actually rolled her eyes at one of us when ordering... More

The interior of this place was amazing. Historical, a bit dark and just perfect! The food however was a bit of a let down. My boyfriend ordered meat, which had been coocked for hours. It was super tender and delicious but the rest of the plate, a bit bland. My own pan of chicken, turkey and pork with beans and... More

I had a quick lunch here of green herring in cream sauce with pickled cucumber and potatoes, which was rather nice. It's an impressive, traditional space, very beautiful with lots of barrels and has a long wine-list.

The interior definitely emerges you in the traditional atmosphere. And the food was sooo typically German :) Service had its flaws but was overall fine.

After a day of sightseeing in the rain, the Ratskeller was a warm and comfortable place for a meal. Large oak barrels dominate the walls. There are cozy alcoves for couples. Delicious selection of wines and cheeses.

We went twice during our short stay, once for beers outside on a sunny day, and for beers and a late lunch on a rainy day. I would have said this is a tourist trap except it is also clearly well used by locals. As you might expect, the beer is fantastic. The lobskaus was lovely, but the cheese and... More

We'd already eaten dinner but wanted to visit here on our last night and we arrived late when no-one else was there and asked if we could have just some drinks and they were more than happy to accommodate us. It is a really beautiful building, it was great to have it to ourselves and the staff never made us... More
