It's true what they say!

It really is the best burger I've ever had! This is a must for anyone going to Berlin, honestly the best burgers i have ever tasted and the chips, bacon and cheese is so good to!.. Located in such a great area tucked away under the railway tracks, its not really a restaurant but almost a shack with benches and seats outside made of beer crates and other random... More

Got advised of this place, great litttle spot you'd only find if you knew exactly where it was. Would almost come to Berlin again JUST for the burgers!! Not to mention the cheesy chips. Anyone who goes to Berlin....this is a MUST!!

We had been told numerous times to ensure we visited Burgermeister and that we did. My boyfriend and I managed to go three times in our three day trip, the first being about 20 minutes after we got to the hotel! I can honestly say it's one of, if not the best burger I've ever eaten. I had the BBQ... More

Delicious burger, line can get quite big at times, just need to pick the right time. Despite this the burger is incredible!

I would urge everyone who likes a good burger to go to Burgermeister. I had high expectations so was expecting to be somewhat disappointed but this was not the case - the burgers were delicious and the chips really good too. The staff were friendly and there is a really nice atmosphere inside. If you are expecting a proper restaurant... More

Do not expect a gourmet burger. It is a simple hamburger but very well prepared. The meat was perfect and we visited another time, as it is very conveniently located right next to a subway station. The chips with cheese and bacon were delicious and the portion is quite generous for the prices. It is quite cheap for what it... More

Believe the hype - The burgers in this place are incredible! I do try to seek out local burger joints wherever I go travelling, and seeing as Burgermeister appeared in pretty much every Berlin food guide I read, it was a no brainer. The location was crazy - a converted public toilet underneath the U-Bahn tracks bang in the middle... More

Everyone says is the best burger in Berlin. I felt it too dry and not very tasty. Not recommended. The only good thing is its price, it is cheap.

We heard about this place shortly before our last visit to Berlin and having read the reviews on Tripadvisor, just knew we had to give it a try. Burgermeister is an old public convenience converted into a burger kiosk, and situated in the middle of a busy junction close to Schlesisches Tor U-bahn. After negotiating the pedestrian crossings to get... More

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
