Excellent!

I went to their coffee shop & had a wonderful lemon/chocolate pastry. On the way out, i stopped by their really impressive chocolate shop where i admired the well done chocolate sculptures and then i decided to try their chocolate out of curiosity as i'm a chocolate lover. I seriously was impressed by the huge selection they had and the... More

Fassbender & Rausch was a must-do when visiting Berlin. The shop is a chocolately paradise where you can spend ages just marvelling over the chocolate Bear, Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate (amongst others). We went to the cafe and prices were extremely reasonable (bill came to under €20) for such high quality tasty delights. Our server was keen to recommend a... More

And not only because of the chocolate masterpieces! You have a restaurant upstairs, which has the best hot chocolate for winter!!! (For adults and for kids) Downstairs you have an amazing selection of chocolates and truffles, from everyday flavors to not so normal ones, but they taste great!!! A must in Berlin, specially on winter!

This chocolate can be seen as a curse or a blessing! It's soo good, that I can't eat any other chocolate found in the U.S.A.! A blessing because any temptation for any other choclate has gone away. It's a curse because I have to fly to Europe to get another bar!

Very good selection of chocolates - all produced in Germany. Prices are decent, too. Makes for good snacking while on your trip and for great gifts to friends and family back home.

Due to my allregies and other restrictions, I asked the waiter if the cake contains unboiled / uncooked eggs. He went and returned 3 minutes later with a book containing pictures of all the menu courses and their ingridients. We found it so considering and nice of them. The food (tiramisu and a chocolate-orange cake) was good, the ice chocolate... More

The review that follows is only for the shopping experience. We were unable to visit the restaurant. The chocolate shop covers the entire ground floor and a range of chocolates as well as cocoa powder is on display. There is a choice of creating your own box or purchasing the ready packed chocolates ( packed in 'sacks', tin boxes, cardboard... More

Spent a lot of time walking around this chocolate store and making our selections to eat and also for gifts to bring home for friends. The truffles are out of this world.

Truly an amazing experience. The price is very reasonable too. Five star attentive service compliments the amazing chocolate. Great for lunch or afternoon tea. They do savoury food but I would aim for three courses of dessert to make the most of the trip! You may need to take one of the excellent Berlin walking tours afterwards to burn off... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
