Great introduction to German Cuisine

We were looking for good German food and drinks after a long day on our feet exploring the city. We almost went to some of the half empty surrounding places because it was so busy but managed to get a great table outside as others left. We enjoyed a beautiful Sunday evening with a great Berlin view... read more

The pub/restaurant is set in the beautiful and quaint location of Nikolaiviertel, which itself is well worth a visit. It sits with an amazing view across the river Spree and had what apparently is the most photographed statue in Berlin, St George slaying the dragon, directly outside. Not that you should, but if you have any doubt about eating or... More

Great location, although too touristic it has some romantic style. The beer was great. The meal also... of course if a person expects Mediterranean, will be disappointed. The meals are traditional German and this increases the general good impression. Can be too noisy for some people at the evening.

Wonderful German restaurant in the old town right on the river's Paris which had excellent German food. We had the swine hocks broten which were excellent. The staff was very attentive and helped us understand the menu and what we were getting.

We were there only for beers. Funny staff, excellent atmosphere. The beer is very tasty, This place also appear in tripadvisor as Brauhaus Georgbraeu and Georg braeu brauhauss, so you can read the reviews there in order to complete full picture.

We found this place by accident during a hot afternoon sightseeing and in need of a drink and a sit down. This is what I’d imagined a real German pub to be like (never actually been in one before). Quite busy even at around 4:00 p.m. but found a table with menus and soon approached by friendly waiter. We just... More

What a place! Absolutely loved the beer (try the dunkel), the ambience and the traditional German food. Went back several times during our stay. Would be fantastic in the summer as they have a big beer garden area in the square out front. Brilliant bar.

I love this biergarten. It is tucked away off the beaten path along the Spree River and next to the statue of St. George slaying the Dragon. Although the service is a bit slow, they have excellent outdoor and indoor seating. The food is super and the beer is always flowing.

walking through the old town beside the river we noticed this restaurant was packed with people waiting whilst others alongside were half empty, on this basis we thought we would also eat here and luckily because those waiting were in larger groups our party of five quickly had a table become vacant. it was clear many of the cliental were... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
