Brilliant burgers.

This was my second visit to The Bird (I have previously reviewed). My boyfriend and I visited in 2013 and loved it so had to come again on a recent visit. The burgers are delicious and very reasonably priced as you get a huge portion and they come with some amazing fries. We also tried the hot... read more

Family of 7, we had the best Hamburger we ever had. Even our vegiterenian girl liked it. Even the fries were good. Very nice atmosphere as well. The only issue was that it was a very hot day and the aircondition did not work.

Have been here twice, on two separate occasions to Berlin. It was so good the first time had to come back on a return trip to the city. The burgers are tasty, although a little peppery, and the chips are some of the best I've had. I had the woiks burger, which was fantastic and great value for money. The... More

If you are visiting Berlin and you are looking for a great hamburger, The Bird is the place for you! You have to book in advance because it's always overcrowded but trust me, it's absolutely worth it!

I came on recommendation and was overwhelmed by the pictures. Indeed the "da birdhouse" burger looked just like other photos. Taste of the paddy was fabulous and one of very few places where in Germany you will actually get a medium (-rare) hamburger! The rest around the taste of the paddy was disappointing. Bun was terrible (tasted like from Aldi)... More

Yes, you're going to wait ~20-25 min for the burger. OK. They say it from the start. But the burger was very good, the portion is big, the place is happy, and the veggy burger (Lentils) is really good. The meat as well, so I'm told. Be sure to reserve a table.

We booked a table at the bird on a 4 day trip to berlin from England. I am glad we booked! It opened at 6 and very quickly filled up with the hostess having to turn some people away. From reading the reviews on trip advisor there was some doubt in my mind that this place could be too good... More

We were the second customers and it took around 25 min to get two burgers. Not impressed. The bun was a COLD English muffin. Not impressed. The meat was good but again hard to appreciate because of the "bun". The fries were fresh so that was positive. The staff was nice. The layout is ok. All in all I really... More

If the quality and goodness of a dish are measured in exaggeration then this place would be in the first place. The portions are exaggerated, the ammount of wasted food is exaggerated, the energy value of each burger is overdone, the spiciness is exaggerated and attitude of the staff is exaggerated. Throughout this exaggeration, the tastes that remain in your... More

We visited this restaurant after looking for places to eat in Prenzleuer Berg, an area of the city that we really liked. We arrived at the place at about 8ish and were told that there was a half an hour wait for a table and agreed that we'd be happy to wait with a drink. We found a couple of... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
