Excellent food and service

Superb food. Wonderful service. Nice atmosphere. Enjoyable wine selection. The restaurant appears to be owned by a couple who themselves do the serving and preparation. A treat.

Ate here last night with a party of 8. The food was excellent, we all had different starters and main courses, with everyone giving a big thumbs up. The food looks and tastes fantastic, the bread basket came with moorish butter flavoured with honey, herbs and balsamic vinegar. The service was friendly and attentive. When we are next in Berlin... We found Gruenfisch via Foursquare recommendations and went there last night as a speciat treat for my birthday. The bread basket was amazing in itself, served with a balsamic butter - sounds weird, tastes divine! For starter we shared a Sicilian Eggplant Sweet & Sour salad with roasted Pecorino - such a great combination of flavours. Followed this with: I... More

Great food, interesting combinations, good wine, very friendly and professional staff. Granted, Gruenfisch is pricey, so possibly nothing for an ordinary weekday, but rather a place to visit on a special occasion. It makes sense to reserve a table.

I expected more for the price I paid. The food is not bad but don't expect something special. The portions are small and expensive.

I discovered this restaurant by chance but I admit that it is one the best Italian restaurants I have even been to. Dishes and service of high standards. Great choices for Italians wines, too. If ever nearby, do not hesitate to go there. Definitely recommended!

When we first saw the restaurant's exterior we were impressed and were expecting a great dinner ahead of us. To start with the waiter was obnoxious. When we asked what we recommend he simply answered "everything is good, you seem to have had bad experiences in life, be optimistic" and he left. If we wanted life advices we would have... More

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend in November 2014 when staying in Berlin for the weekend. The service was excellent, from start to finish. We both had the tasting menu (which was 31 euros), the starter was a delicious tuna sashimi dish coated in sesame seeds, the main was a seafood ravioli with a lovely sauce and then the... More

there are a lot of italian restaurants in berlin, but this one is the best 'till now, it's a lovely place with a very attentive service, delicious traditional food from sicily with a special twist, and the wines are superb!!

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
