Modern german food

We had a lovely meal there the other night. The lamb and the duck were excellent. I would definitely return!

I had roast half duck, husband had beef in beer sauce. We were both delighted. Nice beer on tap, very nice wine by the glass. Though it is mostly a locals place no one blinked at us tourists at all. Service was fast and professional, yet no rushing. I like the neighborhood though some call it trendy. We each had... More

Not so far from the center. Nice situation in a very nice place. Always full, I suggest to book unless you like to eat over the counter. Very great food, inspired to the german tipically dishes, but with a modern touch that makes everything much more interesting. Great staff ! If you're looking for something tipically but also "modern" it's... More

This restaurant is popular and is often full, so book to be sure of a table. Delicious German dishes and the duck seems to be a favourite.

The quality of food was superb. The duck, rack of lamb and pork dishes we had were all sublime. Our 3 year old was feeling poorly and although they had no ice cream on the menu, the waitress went to another shop nearby to get him some. Great service. Mixed clientele from couples, to young locals, to families to business... More

On a beautiful summer evening, my wife and walked Oderbergerstrasse enjoying the lively neighborhood atmosphere. Happily, we decided to eat at Oderquelle, attracted by its menu of traditional German options. My Schweinebraten meal was precisely what I was looking for, my wife's trout very much to her liking. The staff was quite friendly and accommodating, including altering the cooking to... More

We dined at Oderquelle on advice from Tripadviser reviews. Rather put off by the rows and rows of tables along this stretch of road and off-key insistent buskers. An excellent salad entree was followed by two disappointingly ordinary mains of duck and pork, not helped by a carafe of bland red.

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
