Makoto is a good place to go for a quick Japanese meal. The prices, service and food are all average. Lunch for two with drinks was a reasonable €23. There are a number of long tables where you sit with strangers. You'll leave feeling like you've eaten, but not eaten anything particularly good.

The Makoto is a very little place with a front room containing few tables and a further back room with some more lanrge tables where random people sit together. The ramen is fantastic and probably this is the reason why the place is so busy, while we were there for lunch I think about 3-4 couples and groups were turned... More

We were intending on eating at Monsieur Vuong (popular Vietnamese restaurant on Alte Schönhauser Str) but there was a long queue outside the restaurant and it was raining. We noticed this appealing Japanese restaurant, Makoto, opposite. It was busy but there wasn't a queue so we decided to eat here instead. We didn't regret it, it was very good. We... More

The sauces definitely need to be worked on. The food was not bad, but I can´t say it tasted good. The best way I can describe it is like a German went to live in Japan, comes back and attempts to run a Japanese restaurant. The idea/food/ambiance might be "authentic" - but the taste is not. Surprising, as I saw... More

Quick, pleasant service & reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere & clearly a popular place as was quite busy. No sushi on the menu but plenty of other dishes to choose from.

Makoto serves classic Japanese noodle bar dishes in a cozy block of the Mitte district. It is worth a visit when the craving for Ramen hits, and nothing else will do. Makoto is all about the food, but the long, shared tables by the sidewalk were cozy on the night we had dinner there. Service was prompt and attentive, and... More

Makoto is my go-to Japanese restaurant whenever i am in Berlin. The area (Mitte) is very cool and trendy and the staff at Makoto are all japanese. For one, they don't serve sushi (seriously getting tired of 99% of Japanese restaurants abroad serving suhi!) and have the typical menu you would find in a Japanese restaurant (even though it's a... This restaurant serves Japanese "every day food" so there is nothing extremely fancy about it which is actually one reason why I liked it so much. I have been to Japan several times before and I went to this restaurant with a Japanese friend who recommended it to me. The atmosphere in this restaurant is a lot like in most... More

Nothing special about this place but in this price range you can't expect something spectacular. It's totally okay for what it is.
