I love places where I can watch the chef preparing my dish. That makes Vapiano my regular choice when I feel like Pizza, Salad or Pasta. Sometimes I'm turned off by the long waiting lines at the counters, but usually waiting times are acceptable. What you get though is worth a little wait: fresh, tasty and sometimes even healthy. You... More

I've seen Vapiano restaurants all around Berlin, so I decided to try. When entering, you get a card, looks like a credit card. Then you have to decide what you want to eat and stand in the correct line (one for pizza, one for salads, one for pastas, another for drinks) and wait for your turn. The problem here is,... More

The quality of the food is just ok; if you want great italian food, don´t go there. If you look for a reasonable variety of italian dishes (pasta, pizza, risotto, antipasti...) prepared on the spot at a decent price and in a cool place... This is it. Tables are shared, but that was fine with me. It would be nice... More

I like the food and the environment but often a pizza (even the simplest one) takes way too long and it is annoying to go there with colleagues for lunch break and get your order when the others have finished eating already. The pasta have also a long waiting line but I think it is preferable. I was also annoyed... More

I was shocked because I didn't know the card system of payment...So I entered, I had a friend waiting for me there and she ordered food and drinks. Suddenly a guy came and gave me a card and said he was screaming after me to give me a card but I haven't heard him... And I found out that going... More

Vapiano is next door from Sofitel hotel. If you are looking for a place in Kurfürstendamm to meet people, talk, laugh and of course have a wonderful dinning experience, Vapiano is the place! The food and atmosphere are great.

Great concept. Ordering happens at several different counters (pasta, antipasti, pizza, dolce) by means of RFID cards which compile your bill at the end of the night. Foodwise there is an enormous selection, including whole wheat pastas etc. Additions to dishes are made as the chefs cook right in front of you (a full Italian kitchen staff is definitely a... More

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
