Lovely atmosphere, great tapas

We ate there our first night in Berlin and it was a good choice, tasty tapas, great wine and a short walk from our hotel , not cheap but excellent quality and friendly waitress who was Spanish.

I note that some reviews aren't great, and may have put us off had we seen them before visiting; but we were delighted. We were served by two Spanish waitresses, both friendly, good fun and attentive. The place was pretty busy, loads of people at the Bar and at tables, all enjoying themselves. The bar/restaurant has a great, authentic, feel... More

Arrived Saturday afternoon at 2 pm. Sat down and the hostess walked away from the table. About 10 minutes later I asked the bar tender if she could fetch the waitress to take our order. No response from either of them. We walked away thinking that the owners where not present and the girls did not feel like working.I will... More

I dined at Atame on a business trip since it is located very close to the hotel I was staying at. As I was there with vegetarian colleague and we decided to share, I can only comment on the veggie tapas, which were all delicious. Service was prompt and unlike the somewhat grumpy waitress who showed us our table and... More

Short walk from Alexanderplatz. Busy, friendly neighbourhood tapas bar. Food fresh and tasty. Generous portions - which we managed to finish despite over ordering. Reasonably priced too.

We were there on a Friday evening. We didn't order a table and were therefore lucky to get a table. We recommend reservation. The service was nice and the food very good. It is not so cheap though.

We accidentally bumped into this restaurant on our stroll in Berlin. We decided to go back in the evening to eat. We didn't have a reservation but luckily there was one table available. We had 6 courses and a bottle of wine. I haven't eaten Tapas that often but all I can say is that the food was FANTASTIC! The... More

This is a very nice place in walking distance of Alexander Platz. Fantastic wine and very good tapas. Very friendly staff. Worth a visit, but bring cash if you don't have a Maestro card. They don't take Visa or MasterCard.

Our German let us down badly and we resorted to English. Probably much nicer experience if you speak German as the staff were a little flustered. The food was good and I really liked the sherry on the list. Bit of a mix up over one of the dishes, but it was sorted out very well. There is enough veggie... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
