Solid choice but pricey

Having had lunch at Vau two years ago, I wanted to give it a try for dinner. The experience was mixed: Food: the tasting menu was quite uneven: Two out of seven dishes combined fish with sour ingredients (turbot and passion fruit: poor turbot overwhelmed by acidity; catfish and tomato: what wine to drink?). The main course was all right,... More

restaurant is a great location and service staff exceedingly personable. Very considerate and observant with just the right touch. Unfortunate the food did not live up to expectations as we had pork dish was rather pedestrian. Three of the four diners ordered it and were underwhelmed with the taste, texture presentation and quality. The venison dish however was outstanding, cooked... More

Very imaginative and elegant, modern style restaurant with nice degustation style portions. Check the current menu on the net as changing often - I've been there for lunch and enjoyed a tapas-style, starters meal - delicious roasted prawns, tasty lobster bisque and very interesting poached fish, monkfish I guess. All was simple, delicate and high end cuisine.

Went there for a business dinner for the president of our company. Since we know he loves oysters, we specially ordered 4 dozen beforehand so they would have them for us, which the staff was more than happy to oblige. The breads are delicious, and I ate at least 5 different kinds. I had the chicken, which was served with... More

the amuse bouche promised good things to come, but most of what followed was not up to star standard. The menu itself was slightly odd - two fish starters & two meat main dishes... (?). The marinated scallops were tasteless, both main courses were much under-flavoured, the melted-cheese dessert though, paradoxically, was totally killed by too much chutney. The bill... More

If you go to a Degustation style restaurant, do not expect American size portions, not that I like them anyway. That said, we were at Vau the day after the updet at Saaly Paul, so we were a bit apprehensive. We were greeted in the usual Berlin way, friendly, relaxed, cheerful. So pfar, so good. Decor was really nice, getting... More

A strange place indeed. Full of contrasts. Food is top notch, but the service doesn't live up to the quality. A smile wouldn't hurt, let alone some friendliness. Price reflects the expectation of a Michelin star. Not sure it's really that good. Try the suckling pig. Small bbutdelicate. At €40 for a main, on the upper edge of reasonable. Puddings... More

We have been there three times. It was incredible. But the last time on October 11 was even better as their chef Kolja had shown other sides of his talents! Thank You for wonderful evening! Kolja and Irina from Moskau.

Exquisite decor with impeccable taste. A bit too stiff for my taste, even for a Michelin star restaurant. The staff was diligent. The food innovative and artistically presented. An excellent variety of German wines which shows that the sommelier really knows his business. Expect sample size servings with a price tag that is expected for this type of restaurant. I... More
