Very good, but quite expensive for what you get

Despite having been open for many years, it appears that Vau has adjusted with the times. Their conceptual menu (very similar to eleven madison park) is very interesting and studded with rare ingredients. My wife and son opted for the pre-selcted option, while I chose 3 different courses from the... read more

It´s simple: you pay more, you expect more. We got to VAU with great expectations, which were unfortunately frustrated. We ordered from the Improvisation Menu, expecting something daring and surprising, but were disappointed. I can´t say it was terrible, it would not be fair - food was good, but really not that great. As others have already pointed out, it´s... More

Their conceptual menu (very similar to eleven madison park) is very interesting and studded with rare ingredients. Me and my wife went here for dinner, was ok! but not worth the cost, we went for a tasting menu with 5 courses, we arrived at 8.30 had our first course at 9.30 and the last at 11.45 far too long a wait between courses, there was too many other sides that were not needed, we only enjoyed 3... More

We went here for an occasion meal during a trip to Berlin. All in all we enjoyed the meal. The restaurant is a nice place to be and the service was excellent. The food was really good. We went for the more traditional menu. The presentation was good and lots of great tastes. Worth a trip but it is expensive.

Having a business lunch at Vau in Berlin , I choose the 3 course Lunch for 45 euros. The restaurant is really cosy with wood panels and modern design with modern paintings, really zen to enjoy a meal and the service was really perfect, discreet and efficient. The lunch menu offer a good selection of dishes, it seems that you... More

Birthday treat for my daughter and proved to be an exceptional evening. Friendly welcome and attentive service. We added fresh pasta with white truffle to the menu and every course was a delight (see photos). Difficult to say which course was more enjoyable but highlights for me were the cod dish, quail cousre and the ox cheek main with a... More

Brilliant tasting menu. You can either select their "set" menu or pick-and-choose from a longer list. Half a dozen or so small plates, adding up to plenty of food, beautifully prepared and presented. Helpful, knowledgeable, English-fluent service, including lovely explanations of what we were served. We had two glasses of wine apiece, taking our server's recommendations. They were fine, and... Went here for a business dinner. It's one of those places where they explain each course before you eat it, and as a result you tend to get fairly unique dishes. The service was excellent, as was the wine. For business it is perfect - quiet and well spaced between tables so your conversation will not be overheard.

This was my second time dining in a michelin star restaurant but my experience at Vau has left me wanting more. We had an amazing 5 course dinner we several extras presented to us in between courses. The atmosphere is very relaxed without feeling too stuck-up. The service was grand and our waiter was more than willing to help an... More

The restaurant is awarded with a Michelin Star which makes it not really cheap for dining. But if you choose this restaurant you will have a nice evening. The food and the wines served are delicious. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is really relaxed. This altogether will make your visit one to remember.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
