Excellent Schnitzel!

Visited on a very busy Saturday evening; it is easy to see why this is a popular location. Self service a bit daunting to start with, but worked okay. Schnitzel from "Specials" board definitely the top choice, and for us proved excellent value. Draught beer good. No frills, we sat inside and... read more

Exit the zoo, turn right, walk about 200m, and sit anywhere. It's counter-service, and space is plentiful. I had the salmon dish with spinach, and ate everything. So good. The cake, baked on premises, is legendary, but while I certainly enjoyed the rhubarb-almond, I wouldn't call it life-changing. (However, I overheard a four-top of women exulting over their chocolate cookie... More

I stayed near this beer garden and wish I'd found it on my first night, so I could have gone more often. Its self service, but food is prepared quickly and well. There are a couple of bars in the garden which keeps food queues short. Relaxed atmosphere and next to the Zoo and a canal. Worth a visit

Schleusen Krug is located in the Zoologischer Garten just a couple hundred meters from the Zoo station (or Tiergarten from other direction). Weather allowing, the place is guaranteed to be packed and you can actually hear the place before you see it. All kinds of beer is naturally available, but also other drinks. They even had tasty Ostmost cider available,... More

This review appies only to the beer garden and not to the attached restaurant. It is a great place located in a famous Tiergarten. It serves classic Berliner Kindl and offers a selection of food. I tried a classic flammekueche and I found it very good. It is particularly impressive when you approaching the place during an evening going through... More

The Schleusenkrug is a lovely location with not the friendliest personal but for Berlin standards is ok. The Flamkuchen is delicious but a bit overpriced in my opinion. I love the vintage neon sign and the 60´s atmosphere on the inside although the big star here is the Biergarten itself.

We have ended up at the Schleusenkrug on 3-4 occations. It is a Brilliant biergarten, so if you are going for a place to drink I'd highly recommend it. It is self service, and the are at times long lines, so be patient. On hot summerdays it might be difficult to get a table. When it comes to the food,... More

I came here with friends for some drinks in the afternoon, didn't plan on staying here too long. We stayed for dinner and then lots of drinks so actually ended up staying here for nearly 8 hours. It is a beautiful setting, was really lovely just to sit and chat in the surroundings. The staff weren't overly friendly, but it... More

Came here on the Fat Tire City Tour and just loved it. The schnitzel is perfect. I must admit, it was my first (and the only I've had thus far), but my guide, a long-time Berliner, vouched for its relative quality! I didn't drink beer, but everyone around me was happy with what they were drinking, and everyone seemed content... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
