Excellent

Visited whilst on a fat tire bike tour, very busy but worth it. Had a simple potato soup with sausage and it was fantastic. The boss had potato pancakes with smoked salmon and an amazing salad. The Berliner kindl beer was very nice too!

Whenever in Berlin I always visit Schleusenkrug. This place has something of an old Berlin, it can easily transfer you to the time when West Berlin was an island in the hostile communist sea, when West Berlin lived by its own rules and ZOO Bahnhof (Tiergarten) was a world of its own. It is accessible only by foot or by... More

We had a late lunch of the Winter salads,so delicious, fresh and great value for money. We also enjoyed a glass of French red wine. We sat outside by a lovely Christmas tree.

Well 3 years later and we finally got reunite with Schleusenkrug again! The menu changes weekly and offers creative, delicious, fresh and plentiful food. As a veggie there was more than enough to choose from and my boyfriend enjoyed his hearty meaty dishes too. Our favourite place to eat in Berlin...we managed two trips in our short visit and would... I visited this Beer Garden as part of a Fat Tire Bike Tour and found it to be superb - I had the barbecue Grill with a selection of grilled meat and potato salad - all phenomenal on a very hot day after a few hours on a bike. The beer was also very, very nice.

I dined out here on two consecutive nights during my visit to Berlin. It's a little bit tricky to find in the evening as it's located in the Tiergarten but when found what a delight. A cafe/ restaurant with a large beer garden, serving fantastic traditional German food and drinks run by friendly and helpful staff. On my two visits... More

I lived 1 year in Berlin and Schleusenkrug became my favourite Biergarden. Located in the Tiergarten you can sit in the garden and drink beer eating lovely food. Recommended especially on Sunday for brunch time

We actually looked for this beer garden and after some searching by bike after a long morning pedaling through the Tiergarten and along the Ku'damm we stopped in for a bite and some beer. It is self service; order at the counter, take a number and the server drops off your food. The service was certainly not what you would... More

Exit the zoo, turn right, walk about 200m, and sit anywhere. It's counter-service, and space is plentiful. I had the salmon dish with spinach, and ate everything. So good. The cake, baked on premises, is legendary, but while I certainly enjoyed the rhubarb-almond, I wouldn't call it life-changing. (However, I overheard a four-top of women exulting over their chocolate cookie... More

I stayed near this beer garden and wish I'd found it on my first night, so I could have gone more often. Its self service, but food is prepared quickly and well. There are a couple of bars in the garden which keeps food queues short. Relaxed atmosphere and next to the Zoo and a canal. Worth a visit

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
