Description: A michelin star restaurant with Marco Muller one of the best chefs in...
A michelin star restaurant with Marco Muller one of the best chefs in germany. From first impressions, our unimposing facade offers little of what lies within. From the moment you step inside, the RUTZ Restaurant opens up like an art gallery delivering a puristic rooms-within-rooms concept, Restaurant and Winebar. Elegant and yet simultaneously harmonious. The RUTZ Restaurant is located on the first floor. Here you enjoy a modern laid back atmosphere amongst natural materials and an exclusive ambience of high-end hospitality. Here you will find a perfect combination in every dish of flavor balance and creative inspiration. Our Head Chef Marco Muller is dedicated to delivering naturally sourced ingredients of only the highest standard and variety. His creative and yet well-balanced cuisine focuses on originality, naturality and aromatics. A great wine bar with a huge wine list. Our multi-award winning wine list offers over 850 unique bottlings with a primary focus on Riesling and German wines. On behalf of Michelin Star chef Marco Muller, Head Sommelier, Restaurant Manager and the whole RUTZ Team, we look forward to hosting you soon.

This was dinner on our first night in Berlin. It will be difficult if not impossible to surpass our experience. You have a choice of 4, 6, 8 or 10 courses pre-selected - we chose 8 and each was sized appropriately. We were impressed by the balance of creative presentations and wide range of... read more

Excellent choice for German wines, tasty food and a lively dining experience. Our server provided two fantastic wine selections, helping us navigate through the large list. The white asparagus starter and Pork Hock entrée were some of the best dishes we had in Berlin.

The German wine selection is top flight. Service can be a bit slow but they are super friendly and helpful. Had some killer wines that I had never heard of before.

My favourite restaurant in Berlin, small, intimate, with great food, wines and delightful staff. Makes a nice change from the normal heavy german food!

We had a really good meal at the winebar May the 6th. Really delicious starters and asparagus with lamb as main. The wines were waiters choise and really well chosen also for the asparagus (wich can be a wine match challange) . Really good new German to an ok price.

5 years ago we visited the upstairs michelin star restaurant (see my other review on Rutz) and this time we tried the downstairs wine-bar, which also serves food. The place looks a bit like a hotel restaurant of any downtown hotel, but the menu is more centred around traditional German dishes. What we tried was certainly good but not so... More

We visited this restaurant on the first night of our trip to Berlin after seeing a review about it in the Guardian. We were visiting from Ireland. Our waiter was very welcoming, spoke perfect English and took us through the food and wine menu with great knowledge and enthusiasm. We sampled the best of wines and and the best of... More

Came on an early Saturday evening and tables were all reserved, but they were able to seat us at a small bar table by the wine cooler. The server was great in explaining the menu, how the food is prepared and giving recommendations. We got an assortment of appetizers and I got some slow-braised goat as a entree and everything... Being a starred Michelin restaurant, without a menu a la carte, we went there for the experience. We were seated at a table for 4, set for 2, a bit impersonal. We trusted everything, including the wine choice. We are not sommeliers, but we expressed a preference in a couple of wine choices that we didn't prefer, but that was... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
