This place is always full but I was lucky to get a seat at the bar, not having reserved. The food here is always excellent and the schnitzel has to be the best in town. Goulash with dumplings was superb on a cold Berlin night. Great Austrian beer and an excellent range of Austrian wines. The old head waiter seems... More

One of my memories of the vacation with my family in Austria some thirty years ago was a dish called Kaiserschmaren - the Ceasar's Omlet. We all cherished this memory and told about it to the young generation. When I visited Berlin on December 2014 and prepared a list of restaurant I came across the name Ottenthal, an Austrian restaurant.... More

We arrived without a reservation, and despite the restaurant being fully booked later, we were shown to a central table (with the clear understanding that we had to be out by 19:30). Despite the need to move us on quick, this was not noticeable, and we enjoyed 2 courses and wine in a relaxed atmosphere while the restaurant filled up... More

Food is the main aspect to consider when visiting a restaurant, but other things are important. Speed is usually opposed to good food, but when you spend two and a half hours to eat an entree and a main course, something is wrong, very wrong. Ottentahl is nicely decorated, clean, very German. Service is also very German, you get served... More

When we were told in 2007 that this restaurant had the best schnitzel in Berlin, we were immediately skeptical but willing to try it out. Well, not only do the have the best schnitzel, but everything else on the menu is first class. Service is excellent and the staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend it.

This is easily one of the best meals I have ever had.... traditional food, cooked superbly and priced very well for the quality. Service was exceptional and when a waiter realised one of out party was still waiting for a main, he made sure it was fixed asap... wine list leans towards the very expensive to be honest but there... Many restaurants in Berlin carry more or less the same menu.however, this one is probably one of the best. Each course has its own twist that makes it better than the competition. Fresh ingredients ,special spices and the owner in the kitchen make the difference. Add to that the friendly service, generous portions and a reasonable price and you will understand... More

While holidaying in Berlin, we decided to eat at this Austrian restaurant for our wedding anniversary, having spent many holidays in various locations in Austria. The restaurant was also within walking distance of our centrally-located hotel. As the restaurant also serves as a wine shop, there is not a lot of space between some of the tables. However, there was... More
