Delightful and delicious!

Discovered this restaurant on Tripadvisor.Excellent location if you are going to the Theater des Westens. Our waiter, Tobias ( Freddy Mercury look alike!) was helpful and attentive. The Wiener Schnitzel schmeckt aber gut! If back in Berlin, will certainly make a return visit.

Went here with work, it was chosen because of the "Kaiserschmarren", typical Viennese pudding consisting of sort of smashed donuts with sugar on top. We were al not from Berlin and would have preferred a more typical German rather than Austrian place, but gave it a go. Staff was not extremely friendly, menu choices looked okay. they had classics like... More

Food is great. I take the menu (30 euros) pumpinks soup, viel schnitzel and apple strudel, Claudio choose cordon bleu. Everything delicious. Service is perfect and the restaurant is nice. Maybe in our opinion price too high for the normal price of good restaurant in berlin same area

A small, homely restaurant with a nice, family feel. The story at the back of the menu tells you that the restaurant seves wine from Ottentahl, a small town in Austria famed for its wine-making, and that the parts of the old clock in the restaurant are from that same town, given as a gift to the restaurant owner. Clearly,... More

Seems popular, so book ahead on weekend nights. Authentic Austrian fayre, good service, long wine list with pairing suggestions.

We began our first dinner with pheasant and venison pates, then venison ragout and medallions of venison. The restaurant filled up shortly after we arrived, but wasn't noisy. Service was very good, as was the food. We returned two nights later and had their 3-course menu -- pumpkin soup, schnitzel, and an apple pastry. Everything was very good again.

We seemed to had saved the best for last! The first two diners we had planned for Berlin were disapointing but yesterday was good and today at Ottenthal the best. Good flavours and combinations, with sufficient vegetables and potatoes on the sides. The cordon bleu was spectacular. Excellent service and good wine selection. Don't skip this one!

We had been to Ottenthal two years ago and were delighted with their Wiener Schnitzel. This time again, it didn't disappoint us. The restaurant was full, it was stylishly decorated in Christmas style, the service was friendly and efficient. We especially enjoyed the potato cream that came as an appetizer. But also our schnitzel was good (have it with cranberries)... More

As schnitzel aficionados, my wife and I tried quite a few schnitzels in Berlin. The Schnitzel at Ottenthal is truly the best. It is crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The accompanying potato salad, lettuce salad and cucumber salads are great too. Give yourself some time here. Service can be a bit slow.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
