Authentic and excellent

Great service and Food was amazing. Try the wild boar schnitzel. Great selection of Austrian wines and specialty schnapps. Plus they have air conditioning which was a must when it was in the high 90's.

Maybe they have a new chief or the owner has changed. I eat a Kalbsrahmgulasch, the only taste was Paprika in a thick sauce, just disgusting. My wife had chicken with vegetables in a mango sauce and Kokosgnocchi, just terrible.

I had some older extended family visiting Berlin in town so we made plans for a good dinner. I chose Ottenthal because its widely known for having one top schnitzels in Berlin plus grade A Austrian food. They brought along another couple too see it was a 5 some. To say that everyone was happy is under selling it. 2... More

Ottenhals Wiener schnitzel is the best I have ever taisted!!! And the side potatoes only makes it better. What a combination!!! You have to try this restaurant when coming to Berlin. It really is worth it.

A short walk from the Waldorf, we were hoping for outstanding Austrian food and we were not disappointed. The schnitzel was massive, tender and flavorful. Easily the largest portion of schnitzel I have ever seen. The potato salad was expertly prepared; a sharp contrast to the sweet, over dressed excuse we serve in the U.S. Desert was perfect -- apple... More

You'll find in Kanth Strasse close to the Zoo Garden. It's a nice restaurant with table on the street in summer. Food was Delicious. The waiter speaks very good english, was easy for us. She suggest us a good austriac wine. Soup was fine. And Weiner Schnitzel was amazing, delicious. Next time I will choose the Schnitzel too. My plate... More

Was recommended in our guide book and did not disappoint. My partner had the schnitzel and it lived up to the hype. Excellent staff and very friendly. Beautiful inside. We ate from the set menu but would love to go back and try other dishes!

I was looking through a list of restaurants in West Berlin where I am staying tonight and nothing really jumped out at me.......until I started reading about Ottenthal's. I had the privilege of working for people whose families had escaped Hungary and Austria during WWII and established themselves in Cincinnati, OH. The opened a restaurant called Lenhardt's that was the... More

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Tuesday night, we stumbled in here since my Nana loves a good Weinerschnitzel. We both settled on the the Prix fixe menu and Wow! Huge portions and so delicious! You definitely get what you pay for and it was so good! We left very satisfied with the intention of coming back the next... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
