In September 2014 Restaurant Maharadscha has completed 30 years. We want to say a large thank you to all our guests for their faith in us. If you want to experience authentic Indian food you are here at the right address. We serve chicken, lamb, duck, fish and other seafood dishes but we do have a variety for our vegetarian and vegan guests as well. Here you can forget your prejudices against Indian food since you decide whether you want your dish mild, good-seasoned, spicy or very spicy. One of the owners is always at your side to make your visit memorable. Even though we have a large number of dishes, every meal is been prepared freshly after your order is placed. Both restaurants are located very central. You can get to Maharadscha in Schoneberg easily in 5-10 minutes from the underground station Wittenbergplatz (Kudamm with KaDeWe). So tourists can easily travel to the restaurants. Please notice: We don't accept credit cards. Only cash.

Great food and service

The food is great, spicy as we expected from an Indian restaurant. The service is warm and personal, we chatted with the owner about many things. The restaurant has a good ambient too.

Delicious food and friendly, personable service. The meat was tender and perfectly spiced. We felt very welcome and we are definitely going back.

My wife and I love Indian food and we seek out Indian restaurants throughout our travels including major cities in MA, NY, MD, CA, IL, Southern Africa, Europe, and Vietnam and this was absolutely one of the best experiences as far as food, service, everything!! Top recommendation!!!

Me and my friends wanted to go with Indian food and looked up for some reviews on the internet. This place really does look amazing as they say! The food was amazing, really good and truly Indian. The prices a bit high (17 each of us), but the dishes were huge! Waiters all very kind and they all speak English... More

During my 6 months stay in London I visited many different Indian restaurants but never received such a warm welcome by the staff. At the Maharadscha I felt like being with friends thanks to the very friendly owner family. They really like to chat with their guests. Of course this is not the main reason to visit a restaurant. The... More

I drifted by this place during my stay in Berlin in Aug 2015. I am not an Indian dinner by any mean but the smells from this place made me stop on my way back late at night to check the menu After a slight disagreement across the road with the blue elephant my partner and I cancelled the order... Read the good reviews but very disappointed. The staff were very friendly and it was good service but the food was very poor. The naan bread tasted worse than frozen reheated bread. Main lamb dish had no complexity of flavour. My sense was an old Indian establishment that has sought to cater for German tastes. Bore very little resemblance to... More

Our tour manager arranged during our visit to Berlin for dinner. Mr. Joshi is the owner of restaurant, he and his family involves themselves personally to run this business. The Indian cuisine served was of best quality and taste. Group was impressed with the restaurant and appreciated the food personal attention of the owner.

We arrived here very late just before closing time, but service was still very warm-hearted. Place is owned by lovely Indian family and they really know ho to prepare delicious meals with lots of flavour. Home-made Paneer cheese was excellent choice. Restaurant has a nice little terrace and the interior is simple but quite cosy. Highly recommended and would like... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
