Fantastic meal!

Met up with a friend for dinner at La Cocotte. It is such a nice restaurant. The staff was excellent as well as very friendly. The atmosphere was very French. We had an excellent meal. The couscous and the coq au vin were delicious . The terrace is a very comfortable place to sit. It's... read more

Nice restaurant. Good food not to much just enough. Great service and a nice atmosphere. You have to know the place because you won't find normally.

We arrived there after seeing some good reviews here, the place is located in a nice side street and very well decorated, a nice atmosphere of part bar part restaurant and a friendly (but not so service oriented) stuff, welcomed us in. The food on the menu looked interesting (but a little over priced), we decided to go for the... More

The food is good and hearty but what really makes this place is the ambiance combined with the eccentric charm of the owners. Even sitting at the bar is entertaining. You really get dinner and a show here. This is not a tourist trap although there are tourists here too. It is a real quirky, fun and tasty Berlin experience.

I visited La Cocotte with 10 colleagues. The restaurant staff were welcoming and friendly, there was plenty of choice on the menu, wine list was good and the food was delicious. Main courses are served in quirky metal cooking pots and the inside of the restaurant was cosy and warm. Just a little comment, you can only pay cash, no... More

With three quarters of the tables occupied, the service becomes extremely slow and chaotic. It's a shame, because the food is quite nice and well priced...at least 4 out of 5 for the food. One out of five for the service during busy evening hours (it was a Saturday night, reservation for 20:45). Four out of five for the prices.... More

This little French restaurant in Schöneberg is really a must if you like French food. The interior is like 1950´s style and the staff really welcoming. French, German and English spoken by the waiters. All dishes are served in cocottes - this helps keeping the food warm during the entire meal. We had two different kinds of muscles for starters.... Another place we wanted to try and that we will return to! Definitely try the eggs w Fois gras as a starter or the onion soup. The whole menu sounds fantastic and it's difficult to decide what to go for.. The wine list is small but sufficient and they have several open wines as well. Unfortunately we were too full... More

I've eaten there a number of times (the restaurant is within walking distance from my place). I really enjoy it, which is why I keep going ! The starter "Egg Benedict with foie gras" is definitely one of my favourites. The staff speak French, English and German; dishes are served in small stewpans ("cocotte" in French, hence the name), and... More

This is a small French restaurant tucked away from the centre of Schoneberg. The maitre d was hilarious and contributed to this place having a nice relaxed vibe rather than a stiff French one. The place was busy with a fun crowd the night we were there. The food was really good without being amazing with high points of the... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
