What a great experience. I heard a few years ago that Henne was a must, and when visiting Berlin for a 3 day break I decided, along with my partner and a friend, to frequent Henne. on first impressions the decor is very traditional and a tad shabby, almost in need of a facelift, but if Henne did have a... The feeling of the location is just great, close your eyes and it could have been 50 years ago. Entered to have a early dinner with friends, lucky we got in without making reservations. It was packed with a very mixed audience of locals, new Berliner and almost no tourists. The food was good for what it is, fried chicken... More

On the recommendation of a friend, I was told I MUST go to Henne. She was right. Make a reservation first, or you might miss out. You can actually make a reservation online, and it's easy. Inside, it is a bit of a German dive, and the atmosphere is warm. The staff is efficient and friendly. I especially like that... More

We meet a German friend at this restaurant and throughly enjoyed it. The menu is limited on the main course, only chicken, a half of chicken that is fried. They are smaller chickens so it serves one person well. You can also get a German Cole slaw or German potato salad. Both excellent. Wide variety of beverages were available. Restaurant... More

This is an institution in a quiet residential area. It serves one thing only - fried chicken, potato salad and sauerkraut - and it does it extremely well! Reasonably priced, friendly staff, freshly made food, nice range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Go if you like chicken. Don't go if you want to eat something else. Do make a reservation!!

Henne is a very nice chicken Restaurant and old Berlin beer bar, they serve very crispy chicken and a variaty of beers and Schnaps. The interiour is original old Berlin style and a must see! The Service is more friendly as expected in Berlin and the humble place is so warm and highly recomended!

Came here following a reccomendation from a friend, and wasn't disappointed! Despite a simple menu, the chicken, potato salad and sour kraut is more than perfect. The fried chicken is so delicious and the sides really matched well. My boyfriend loves his beer and they had a great selection, and my white wine was lovely. I accidentally spilt my wine... More

This is a super place old style with history it has a limited menu but what the heck the half chicken old style German is to die for free range. With Berliner friends who come once a year every year I could not belief it why only once a year. The slaw and potato salad (traditional German) are great I... More

Booked on line....turned up 30 minutes early to be told our booking was "cancelled because we are busy". When I asked how that could be the Frau in charge just shrugged and walked off... Now I understand that stuff happens and things don't always go smoothly....(they confessed the internet bookings had only been going a couple of months and weren't... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
