Great choice for breakfast

In the Prenzlauer Berg quarter of North East Berlin, there are plenty of small coffee bars, restaurants and small shops which gives the area a boho arty chic feel. We went there for breakfast. Nice terrace, large choice of breakfast. Different European and American breakfast plates are available. Effective service, waitress has a very good English. Menu are in both German and English which makes it easy to understand and order. Plates where well presented and food very tasty. Good coffee. Only drawback: the croissant. This is the only... More

We have eaten in Butter several times and return because it is unpretentious and serves satisfying food. The service is friendly and helpful to non-German speakers and the food is substantial and enjoyable. The décor is rather tired and nothing is luxurious but you can drop in here and spend a relaxing hour or two without feeling hassled.

I was brought to this Cafe by a friend who lives in Berlin. We arrived about 8.30pm on a Thursday evening, five of us together. We were seated quickly and engaged by the owner and a very nice waitress. We had a really lovely tasty and substantial meal in a warm clean and friendly place. I am told it is... More

We loved the location. Because it was New Year there was only a brunch-buffet, but this one was a nice one. The place invites you to come again....

Arrived here half an hour after it opened on Sunday morning and it took a while before we got a table. The breakfast buffet at 8.50 Euro per person is excellent. Also the clientele is very pleasant: no cell phones, no tablets, no laptops, just friendly speaking people. You can spend hours at this pleasant cafe.

Sunday Brunch for 8.50 € including lots of salads, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, smoked salmon, cereal, yogurt, some hot food (sausages, scrambled eggs, meatballs, chicken wings), crepes and waffles, and several creamy desserts (chocolate mousse, semolina pudding, rice pudding). The brunch area is a litlte bit small and up a short flight of stairs. The café has a nice traditional... More

Finally got around to eating dinner here. It's a pretty standard German restaurant with a simple menu and a special weekly menu for items of the season. They offer a late breakfast during the week and on weekends a buffet type brunch menu. The food is reasonably priced and the atmosphere is that of a corner restaurant. Service is what... More

i don't know why some people are saying the service was good. the food is good, and the price is reasonable, but the service is one of the worst. here the customer is always wrong! if you're masochistic, you could be happy here. I live in Pappel Allee, but the service made me stop going there. hey boss, you better... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
