The best Apfelstrudel in Berlin

This coffee shop is wonderful! It is not overly expensive and the menu is quite extensive. We had a cafe Latte, 1 cola light, a delicious large piece of black forest gateau and of course the delicious piece of Apfelstrudel and it cost only 14.90 euros. We never like to visit the same coffee house twice whilst away unless it's exceptional... So this place was next on our hit list. It was very busy and full of locals which is always a good sign. I'd say the service was a little slow but considering the fact there was one waitress and the place was packed I... More

Just a stroll from the hubbub of bland Alexanderplatz, this excellent haven of calm contains the best coffee and cakes in Berlin with friendly staff too. They do a large variety of teas too. If you're feeling lazy the tram from Alexanderplatz stops outside. The giant telecom tower is immediately behind the old church opposite, when viewed from the cafe.... More

I had a coffee and some pastry and wifi here. The staff was friendly and smiling. Coffee is perfect. I loved the ambience of the shop, I'd go back again.

Unique and delicious desserts and best espresso drinks in Berlin. Recommend the eisespresso but don't think you can go wrong with anything you order.

there were bees in the restaurant... we also saw that they reached the food in the open vitrine (had a nest on the bakeries). we had an apple cake, tiramisu and waffles, all were very good.

The coffee was excellent and possibly the best we had in Berlin and was exactly what we needed as we stumbled across this place. Views were excellent and the cafe quiet. The only downside was there was only one waitress on who looked very busy and as a result wasn't very welcoming.

Friendly coffee and tea shop. Visited twice and pleased each time.Enjoyed a pot of English breakfast tea in pleasant relaxed surroundings.Just what was needed after a long day travelling. Be warned however it closes at 7 pm.

The cakes in this place are works of art (my friends raved about the apple strudel and poppyseed cake) and they also had delicious ice creams (good for me, as I am coeliac). Plus, the coffee and tea was excellent. The waitress was also very kind and patient with our poor attempts at speaking German! Definitely stop here if you... More

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
