Good restaurant

Nice restaurant, reasonable in price and recommended by one of our tour guides as a good place to eat. It''s in the heart of the 'bar street' area in East Berlin. As the name suggests, it is mainly German fare, including noodles and dumplings.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our Segway tour guide and what a brilliant recommendation it was! Potato & sausage soup, schnitzel and apple strudel with great German wine and beer. Unbelievable value and a great setting.

This place is really great, though simply arranged. The atmosphere is cozy and the manager who helped us out with the menu extremely friendly and relaxed. The food is real sould food, hearty and served in generous portions. I had a nice stew with knodel . and cabbage, in a beer sauce. It was delicious and so German-styleI do not... More

A big, hearty German dinner for a great price. The neighborhood was really relaxed and we had such an enjoyable evening here followed by drinks nearby. The service was kind and friendly and the food was so tasty my plate was almost licked clean. Lovely.

I love all forms of Spätzle and was looking forward to trying the Käsespätzle. Sadly the dough was more like pancake/Kaiserschmarrn dough and the Spätzle were kind of burnt. The Schweinebraten was pretty nice, although the non-fatty part was a bit dry. There are better options for austrian/bavarian/southern german food in Berlin. A shame.

Tried spatzle for the first time here - yum! Service was ok - not extremely attentive, but friendly enough. Food tasted fantastic - large portion I couldn't finished! Disappointed I didn't have enough room for dessert - it looked so good.

food was great, we had traditional Austrian food and a couple of glasses of red and a lovely strudel. Prices are really good and the quality was superb, staff were friendly and very relaxed as we stayed for a while and weren't made to feel we should be making tracks. Overall a lovely little place and very easy to find

This place in Friedrichshain, has all the typical German comfort food for those dark winter evenings - spatzles, sauerbraten, schnitzels, klopse & a good beer selection, served in a cosy room by very friendly staff. Good value. Perfect.

We made a special trip to S & K having read about it in our guide book. It was worth the trip! The restaurant has an informal cafe/bar atmosphere and concentrates on a few, staple comfort eats - all German. We were pleased to see a couple of "proper" vegetarian options on the menu. The restaurant had a great selection... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
