Really good for a nice drink

Really nice old traditional bar. Nice choice of beers, good atmosphere, great staff. Close to the river Spree in an area with lots of riverside cafes/bars/restaurants

We had been to a couple of pub's and bar's in the area and decided to pop into this cool looking bar. We walked in and the staff were just superb, they have a great cocktail menu but we were only here for a quick beer but the staff were really happy with that. We ordered WERNESGRUNER BIER this is a... We visited the bar with friends in the afternoon, ordered fruit juice with water, there were only few guests, we still waited long and at the end I got something else, than I ordered. I sent it back but at the second time it was still not what I ordered. The waitress was not friendly at all as we were... More

My wife and I visited this bar/resteraunt after watching a show at the Friedrichstadt Palast. What a great find, you can sit outside by the water or inside where they not only provide great cocktails but live piano music. Nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices, we had four cocktails including one that was my wife's favourite but not on the... More

Lovely atmosphere and very good selection of drinks. The piano player didn't seem to play for long when we were there but we enjoyed the bar none the less.

Whenever visiting Berlin, the Van Gogh is a favourite for us, given it's excellent riverside location and friendly service. Lovely place to sit by the river and plenty to see to keep you entertained. The difference with this and the other places along this stretch of the Spree is that it does not do a food menu, just cakes etc.... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
