Uber-friendly staff, good coffee, great location

Uber-friendly staff, good coffee, great location. Lots of New Zealanders in a beautiful old Berlin street opposite a church. Lovely music, great wifi too

I found the restaurant to be average. Ordered eggs with bacon, sausage and avocado on toast. Eggs and bacon came out very, very undercooked. I asked for the eggs to be cooked a little more, which seemed to offend the waitress. Waited literally 10+ mins for them to come back (mind you this place had like 5 people in it)... More

Antipodes is one of those treasures that once you've found it you will want to go back again and again. Great coffee, the hot chocolate is also really good. We had their coriander, carrot and tomato soup with corn bread and a warm freshly baked roll and it was delicious. Their carrot cake is also fantastic. It's small and cosy... More

A wonderful slice of New Zealand in Berlin. The coffee was one of the best I've had anywhere in the world. The food was simple but delicious. We ate breakfast here two days in a row because it was that good. Tried the avocado, bacon and tomato on a toasted muffin, delicious. I had some sort of bacon and eggs... More

You cannot possibly visit Berlin without breakfasting at this great institution. Get there early - it fills up! If you're lucky you also get to see great artists like Fergus Bremner who lives nearby.

We ate here a few times during our stay in Berlin. Pros: good coffee, excellent food with local German and other Eropean food on offer, friendly service, tap water provided with meals (not common in Berlin), inside and outside dining. Also if you're looking for good bike hire, the business next door looked after us.

Unfassbar unfreundlich - geht gar nicht! When searching for the toilet I've been treated like a dog (after having paid for my meal). "Out! Out!" shouting plus showing me the corner with a finger. No thanks!

Had breakfast at Antipodes twice during our stay in Berlin. The only disappointment was that it was closed on Mondays and we couldn't go there on that day. Favourites included avocado tomato and bacon on muffin, yogurt fresh fruit and muesli and great coffees. Warm friendly staff capped off a top cafe.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
