Fantastic atmosphere and delicious Greek food

There are a lot of good restaurants near U-bahnhof Eberswalder Strasse, however we recommend this Greek restaurant. This is a very busy restaurant, but the service is attentive and great. We tried this restaurant inspired by the good reviews and were not disappointed. The food is excellent. The servings are huge! One plate is large enough for two people, in our opinion. The waters were extremely friendly and nice. We went on a very hot night, and the inside (where we sat) does not have A/C, so it was very... More

Our 6th night in Berlin provided by far the best meal at Asteria. This restaurant is located 2.5 km north of Alexanderplatz so it is a bit outside the main tourist zone. I would describe this as a mid-level restaurant - above a pub-type location and not quite white table cloth level. The food is amazing, full of flavor, and... More

Great attentive and friendly staff. Quick service even on a night where the place was packed. The place is relaxed and friendly. The portions are really, really big and the food is amazing. We had a grilled platter for 2 persons. It included a huge garden salad, bread and tsatziki and would easily have served 4 adults. Great experience, highly... More

We were craving for Greek Food and we have checked Trip Advisor suggestions and we came to know of this restaurant "Asteria" The place was so full inside and outside at 8:30pm when we arrived, the waiting staff were so nice as they have added tables to accommodate us, they are so helpful and very humorous making us feel welcome.... The restaurant has a great climate as is usual for mediterranean culture. A very warm welcome and greeting for regular customers are usual. Our friends got engaged here and this is the Greek place to eat by their choice in Berlin. The atmosphere is relaxed, the Ouzo in abundance and food is great. The portions are really really big. Even... More

We had a great evening at Asteria. We could see it was well liked- the place was buzzing. The waiters were fabulously attentive, including regular free shots of ouzo! There was plenty of reasonably priced choices on the menu for everyone, we found it difficult to choose as they all sounded so good! The food potions were HUGE, and didn't... More

When we arrived we found a Greek waiter singing and walking around with a bottle of Ouzo, which he generously poured for patrons around the restaurant. A good sign. We were quickly showed to a table and glasses of Ouzo appeared at our table (we politely declined). The restaurant quickly filled up even though the restaurant is quite large and... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
