This place is fab. Nice friendly atmosphere, waitresses were very helpful and recommended a bottle of wine which was excellent and which we liked much better than two samles we had tasted first. We had pizza which was very good and a dish from the daily menu (Orecchiette with a beef role and sauce), which was quite excellent. Uncomplicated and... More

Very honest and down to earth, the pizza's are always good. The people in the kitchen are actually real Italians.

There are lots of pizzeria's and pasta restaurants in Berlin, but I've been looking for a proper Italian for a while - with good meat and fish and cheese, and freshly made pasta. The pizza is also good - it's like in Italy - but I mostly go there for a three course treat in a nice, quiet atmosphere. You... More

When we arrived, a family with two young boys (approx. 3 years), were in the restaurant. The boys, however, were playing out on the street near the door, opening, closing, opening, closing. The propietor asked the boys to stop, but neither parent intervened. Given the outside temperatures and the draught resulting from the door being opened and closed continuously, our... More

We were a group of 5 that had late dinner at Mami Camilla. The restaurant has a very friendly atmosphere, a simple, white room with wooden tables and chairs. The meny is not big, but more than enough to cater for different needs. Our daughter had a ravioli that was excellent, it was clearly freshly made. The pizza was good,... More

Giuseppe met the German Helen at the faire (Messe) in Berlin. He fell in love. They decided to start living in Berlin. Quite a common love story, and you'll ask yourself: what does this have to do with Italian fod in the neighborhood of Friedrichshain? Well, Giuseppe comes from Amalfi, at the sole of Italy. His mother, Camilla, runs a... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
