Delicious food in former Prussian barrack with high ceilings make this place quite unique. It is not posh or pretentious. Toilets are not too clean and have plenty of graffiti. Yet the place gave an amazing experience, there were no foreign tourists around us.

My wife and I had dinner here while visiting in Berlin. Not sure we would have found it apart from our friend who hosted us. Located in a former monastery, which later became a hospital, the arch motif of the room and the soft lighting created a ambiance for nice dinner. Our friend had the white asparagus which is just... This was my second visit to 3 Schwestern and it will definitely be on the itinerary every time I make it back to Berlin. The place looks lovely with high arched ceilings, dark wood floors and minimalist but well kept vintage furniture. Even the walk to get to this bit of a converted hospital through a quiet backwater of Kreuzberg... More

While strolling through the Kreuzberg district I came upon an unusual looking brick building and decided to peak in. I found out that it was a former hospital now being used for art installations and the home of the 3 Schwestern restaurant. What a great find! The restaurant is a rather large space with simple wooden tables with lit white... More

Recommended this restaurant by some friends that are living in berlin. The restaurant is in a former hospital and is a very impressive building. You have to firstly find the place – opposite a large park and then walk through the corridors. We ate on a Saturday night, you needed a reservation and was mainly packed with locals Food was... We found this restaurant in guide book in NH hotel as we wanted to try German cuisine somewhere not too touristy. It was bit difficult to find the restaurant. It situated inside of Park and huge Historical Building with two towers in entrance which used to be a hospital, now transformed to art centre and art studio. Food was very... More

Nice relaxed atmosphere, despite big groups coming to dine here. Staff is really nice. Ate there twice, and both times I liked their starters, main course and desert!

You better use public transport. When you're coming by car it's extremely hard to find a parking space. But when you're lucky and you've one, you will however have to walk around 5 minutes before reaching the main entrance of the building. The woman who picked up the phone (when I called to make a reservation) was very friendly. Unfortunately... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
