One of the Main streets through Berlin

Plenty of bars and shops with easy access to train station, open top bus. Good restaurants and main attractions close by!

The Boulevard is a good typical meat and potatoes restaurant (though they also have fish dishes on the menu). It is located on Frierichstrasse a few steps north of the River Spree. The restaurant has a traditional Berlin feel inside and there is a well stocked bar with good draught German beer and a wide choice of wines and spirits.... More

On our last night in Berlin, we enjoyed taking the S-Bahn to this cozy German restaurant with an expansive outdoor seating area. We chose to eat inside in their small dining area. It was fun to see a lot of locals eating at this restaurant. I enjoyed the Fisch plate „Störtebeker“. Because there were no gluten free main dish options,... More

My wife and I visited the restaurant on our first night in Berlin, we both had the schnitzel after reading reviews on Trip advisor. It was a let down, the food was overcooked and dry, the accompaniments were ok and the serving was large. Service was average, the wine relatively inexpensive so that was a positive. Did not consider returning... More

Had just arrived in Berlin for a 4 day break, staying in the nearby Meliã Berlin (review separate) and decided to try this place based on it being close, and popular with the locals. It didn't disappoint at all, with good Wiener schnitzel for myself, and an asparagus salad for my wife from the special asparagus menu. Beautifully cooked and... More

On Saturday (18 April) we were wandering back to our hotel; Berlin Tryp Mitte from The Reichstag. It was 6:30pm and we didn't have reservations, which in hindsight was a mistake. After trying two other restaurants it seemed like we needed some luck. So we were surprised when they found us a table here, especially knowing how highly rated this... More

The Hotel Melia Berlin is located on the Friedrichstrasse and that is where we stayed for three nights. Many things to see and do along the street, and numerous places to eat and shop.

This restaurant is hidden between the blocks, but is a gastronomical treasure. The atmosphere is ok. You eat here and you will never be hungry all day. All the food is excellent, from steaks to Vienese schnitzel, but the prize is the apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Very tasty!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
