breakfast

We had a really good breakfast here in a cool, modern environment. It was a little more expensive but it is definitely going for a trendy, healthy menu. The staff were great and the food was freshly cooked and prepared in a buzzy open kitchen.

Stopped in for breakfast based on the many good reviews and we were not disappointed. I had the scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, French toast, maple syrup and salad and it was divine! My other half had the eggs florentine and was equally happy. To sum up friendly service and an excellent breakfast - not the cheapest but well worth it... More

This place was recommended in a french guide and as a family we were quite pleased. Getting there early ca. 9.30 on a Saturday no one was there yet and the service was quick and staff friendly. Pancakes were thin but fluffy. The French Toast dish had a single slice of toast though... Some breakfast dishes are served with salad,... More

Chips was in two Berlin Guidebooks as a must visit so we located it but were a bit disappointed. We went for breakfast and it was nice but felt overpriced and we felt we'd had better both in Berlin and elsewhere. Staff were friendly enough and it was nicely decorated but nothing special. In future I wouldn't go back, nothing... More

Serving a multitude of marvellous breakfasts until 12pm on weekdays and all days at weekends, we ate here instead of at our hotel :-) Their menu is very flexible, and waiters are very friendly to those like us with limited German. I was delighted to have the choice between soya milk and lactose free milk, which I have never seen... More

Had Brunch here on a Monday morning - I ate the Eggs Benedict and it was some of the best I've had. We got there around noon, and it seemed like we were lucky to even be seated without a reservation, they were pretty busy, so I'd recommend making one if you plan to go.

We looked at the Top 10 Breakfast places in Berlin and this was it! Freshly squeezed juices, omelette and a lovely setting, made this visit so worth our walk from hotel across the other side of town.

Excellent choice to start your day with a high quality meal in a cozy environment before a adventurous day in the majestic Berlin. Service is perfect in timing and the waiters are knowledgeable of menu and wiling to help. Specially when you are still in that lazy mode. I had a very good moment with my family (adults and 10yr... The name of the restaurant isn't really indicative of the quality of the food or ambiance. To an American, Chipps sounds like a fast-food joint, but it definitely isn't! I was very happy with the breakfast choices (loved the Dancing Queen - a healthy variation on Eggs Benedict) and even returned a second day. Servers spoke English and were friendly... More

The meal we had at CHIPPS was a joke, and overall we were disappointed in the experience. Our entre, which was supposed to be ravioli, did not resemble ravioli in the slightest; we were served a soup with floating bits. When we asked where the ravioli was, the waiter told us that the ravioli had come apart, and that there... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
